Guest guest
Hmmm- I don't think anyone was advocating a low carb diet in general. I think the original issue was a medical problem requiring compact nutrients, including protein. High protein and low carb are two different things. For protein and compact foods, I would go for nuts (nut butters are good!), beans, soy, mushrooms (good source of minerals), and avoid low calorie/low vitamin foods like lettuce, and celery. Sweet potatoes are a good, dense source of vitamin A. Try eating broccoli without any of the stems (even the little ones). The dark green parts of broccoli are amazingly rich in vitamins, and this way they take up less space. Here is a list of high protein/low carb vegan foods: tofu dry roasted soybeans white beans great northern beans adzuki beans kidney beans split peas yellow beans cranberry beans navy beans small white beans pink beans black beans lima beans chickpeas black-eye peas pinto beans mung beans fava beans lentils pumpkin seed kernals black walnuts tempeh vegan sausage (brand?) watermelon seed kernals pine nuts soybeans cowpeas peanuts peanut flour sesame flour sprouted soy beans sunflower seeds almonds brazilnuts walnuts tahini sprouted seeds here's a list of nutrient dense foods. I figured you wanted lots of vitamins, protein, mono and poly unsaturated fats, and low fiber. Is that right? Here's what the computer gave me. paprika peppermint leaves cayenne chili powder carrots grape leaves pumpkin sweet potatoes broccoli leaves dandelion greens cress dill thyme lambsquarteres hot peppers spearmint cilantro basil mustard greens kale cooked spinach tarragon winter squash turnip greens dried aprictos sage kale collards parsley bay leaves savory red bell peppers pine nuts cocoa mangos cumin brazilnuts blackstrap molasses canteloupe tomateo paste prunes sun dried tomatoes saffron curry powder fennel seeds broccoli allspice tahini molasses pistachios pumpkin seeds sesame seeds, whole ginger shallots black pepper tomato puree onion powder' sunflower seeds chickpea flour wheat germ almond butter cinnaomon asparagus avocados orange juice peanuts garlic powder tofu potato chips brussel sprouts
