Guest guest
I'm now moderating a vegetarian weightloss group on ediets.com, and some have asked about the Atkins' diet on a vegetarian/vegan diet on the aktin's plan. i don't know much about the atkin's diet in detail, but with a few modification's it sounds like, at least for lacto-ovo's, it is possible to modify the atkins' diet to your own specifications. http://www.ehow.com/how_8646_dr-atkins-diet.html Megan MilliganyasminduranDesert Rose Musings (http://www.desertrosemusings.com) (some parts under construction)Cal Neva Animal Rescue (http://www.desertrosemusings.com/calnevarescue/index.htm) (under construction) "Kheperi kheper kheperu kheper ki em kheperu en Kheperi kheper.""When I became, the becoming became. Guest guest
How nice of you to invite us (is that it?) to your list - I don't recall discussion of Atk*ns diets on Vegetarian Slimming lately, although there was some chat about it (mostly against it) some time ago. I think we all understand that Atk*ns is probably not the best way to go, but indeed it does seem possible to 'do' a form of the Atk*ns diet as a veggie - although cutting back on fruits and vegetables to stay within the carbohydrage limit sounds kinda counterproductive. On Vegetarian Slimming we rather believe in a balanced and healthy way of eating and Atk*ns is a name I usually avoid. I am not meaning to begin a controversy, however - but then I didn't raise the subject either!!! *lol* Best of luck with your list ;=) I know how dedicated you are to the vegetarian lifestyle, and it is nice to know that a list is in the hands of those who really care. Chat later! Best love, Pat ;=) > " Megan Milligan " <yasminduran > ><pagan_vegetarians > >CC: ><WorldVegs >,,<\ @>,,<vegetarian-recipes@food-\ lists.com> > for those of you wondering about vegan-atkins >diet >Tue, 20 Apr 2004 14:21:50 -0700 > >I'm now moderating a vegetarian weightloss group on ediets.com, and some >have asked about the Atkins' diet on a vegetarian/vegan diet on the aktin's >plan. i don't know much about the atkin's diet in detail, but with a few >modification's it sounds like, at least for lacto-ovo's, it is possible to >modify the atkins' diet to your own specifications. > >http://www.ehow.com/how_8646_dr-atkins-diet.html > >Megan Milligan >yasminduran >Desert Rose Musings (http://www.desertrosemusings.com) (some parts under >construction) >Cal Neva Animal Rescue >(http://www.desertrosemusings.com/calnevarescue/index.htm) (under >construction) > > " Kheperi kheper kheperu kheper ki em kheperu en Kheperi kheper. I am committed to choosing a weight-loss/nutrition ediucation program tomorrow. I liked that ediets had vegetarian options. My neighbors and some of my friends have had great success with Atkins yet they all crow about how you can eat all the meat (and fat) that you want. Blech! So, I'm glad to know there is an alternative. I want to lose the twenty pounds I gained while being a sales rep (and then unemployed...hm, guess there's a better fit for me! pun intended!). Thanks for sharing this. Christine
Guest guest
I am totally concurring with Noel. IMHO, there's no such thing as the best diet regime or one-for-all diet. Moderation is definitely the key to good health besides keeping fit. Every diet has its pros and cons depending on one's age, gender, body type, blood type, genetics and activities. Of course, I exclude socio-economic factors like rich or poor, rural or urban and so forth because it is situational reasoning. Diet would be the least of consideration when you are penniless. Moderation is the crucial cataylst in well-being whether in food intake or exercise. Jeffrey , Noel <justice1stright73usa> wrote: > Yeah, I agree. I'm not putting anyone down for being on the Atkins diet but personally, I don't hold much faith in it since the man who invented the diet died from obesity. Yes, Atkins died from obesity for those of you who don't know yet. After hearing that, I began to question just how good his idea of a diet really was. I mean he wouldn't have been obese if the diet was working right? Just my opinion though. Maybe the diet works for some people but for long term living, I don't personally think it's all that good. I believe in moderation no matter what it is you're consuming. I think that people can eat carbs as long as they do so in moderation. From what I understand, people on the Atkins diet are required to eat things only low in carbs and not necessarily carbs in moderation. Now I could be wrong but this is what I thought that diet was all about. Please reply back when you get the chance and let me know if this is in fact correct or not. Thanks:) > > Noel
