Guest guest
If they are serious about Atkins have them try a nice soybean patty, as the meat portion, or a soybean salad, or any of the meat substitutes. They could also use a chick pea salad for the protein and a nice salad. But putting the body in Stasis for two weeks is dangerous and unhealthy and I don’t know if even possible with a vegan diet. I have cut down on breads, pastas, white potatoes, and white rice which are considered simple carbs. That’s not Atkins though, that’s just common knowledge. We need 500 calories from carbs just for our brains to function properly. I eat lots of vegetables and grains high in complex carbohydrates and haven't experienced any weight gain. It's the simple carbs found in processed foods that are the real problem. Which again isn’t Atkins that’s just eating whole healthy foods. Most of my friends on Atkins have no idea that soybeans are 37% protein where meat is only 29% protein. So you can't eat the highest protein diet and still eat meat. They also usually have no idea the difference between good oils (nice fats) and bad ones. I think this is because they don't eat enough complex carbs for their brains to function. So blessings and good luck with your Atkins people. I gave up trying to have an educated conversation with my Atkins friends. I just eat my veggies and watch them yoyo in weight. The other thing to remember is that if you eat a good selection of complex carbohydrates your body will assemble these into complete proteins. Keeping you nourished and balanced. 70% of our daily energy is from Carbohydrates… I think this is why the Atkins diet doesn’t work, because it doesn’t work the way our bodies do. Atkins died clinically obese so I don’t think his diet worked for him. So why would it work for me? If you have success around the Atkins issue please post it or email me off list. I would love to know what to say to people about Atkins and vegetarianism. But most vegetarians that are serious about their diets and eat healthy whole foods; have their weight level out to an acceptable amount over time. I don’t know if it’s because it’s spring or because I started juicing again but my body dropped some weight, my pants are looser! On an earlier thread (sorry I was busy in the garden) there was talk about supplementing with B12 and multi's. Two years ago I was run down and had no energy. I was taking vitamins and still felt very tired. I started eating avocados and using flax seed oil tablets. It made a major difference; within 24 hours I felt 100% better. The vitamins couldn’t get into my cells without a carrier oil such as Omega 3 which is found naturally in Flax seeds. Fish such as Salmon are high in Omega 3, but they don’t make it no animal makes it naturally, they get it from vegetation. Once I started eating healthy oils my energy greatly improved because then my vitamins could get to where they were needed. I still take vitamins once in a while but always take some flax seed oil daily, but am thinking about using the seeds directly in my diet. I started buying the pressed oil and using it in my juice and shakes. Now that summer is here I’m eating more Raw, how about you! Any great salad ideas?
