The raisin bread recipe on this site is with eggs and milk.

I was hoping to find a simple vegan one.

The whole-wheat raisin bread recipe seems to be vegan with the

exception of butter, which you could substitute with soy margarine.

There are several variations of raisin bread on this site. You may

want to check a few of them out and see if you find one you like!!

I wanted to add something about the soy margarine:

Try spectrum spread (not intended to be a commercial), it has all the attributes of soy without the saturated fat.

Whenever a recipe calls for milk, plain soymilk makes

a good substitute. Egg replacer (made from potatoes)

works well in baked goods. Margarine is easily

substituted for butter. It is usually easy to

" veganize " cookies, breads, and muffins.

If you're going to be vegan for health reasons, you might want to eliminate hydrogenated oil. Margarine has hydrogenated oil. If you want to find out just how bad it is, do a search and find out it is killing you to the point that some stores do not carry anything with hydrogenated oil in any of their products. It, in it's self, is the source of many inflammatory diseases, clogs your arteries and makes you constipated.Mary Boehler <mbb73 wrote:

I was actually looking for just a real plain recipe.

I used to make raisin bread all the time while we were living in France.

All I used was flour, water, yeast and raisins.

I just forgot what quantities I had to use.
