Guest guest
Maybe the food she put it on was bad? I use both flax seed and flax seed oil on everything. The seeds are faitly tasteless and really tiny. The oil has to be kept refrigerated thought or it goes rancid quite quickly. It is fantastic stuff. I use it on everything. I even out flax seen in all my muffins, and breads. I would think that the concentration of oil is much stronger than the seed? Guest guest
Your friend may want to try Hemp Oil instead. It is the only oil I know of that has ALL the good stuff in it. When I take my hemp oil (1TB day) I mix it with yoghurt, it makes it water soluble, and easy to digest..she could try that with the Flax. I am dairy intolerant and use Soy yoghurt, and it tastes just fine, and never a sick feeling. Sybill

Guest guest
you should refrigerate flax seed and flax seed oil must be kept refrigerated. I use it in place of butter, and in salad dressings. It is so good for your heart and body! Kendra

I was wondering because even though it may be refrigerated at the health food store, it occurred to me (after more than a week of 90 degree temps) that it may not have been shipped to the store in a refrigerated truck. The last bottle I bought was a little bitter.
Guest guest
Flaxseed oil definitely has to be refrigerated after opening. Mine says so on the bottle. Most shipping trucks have refrigerators in them. I used to belong to a health food co-op, and the delivery truck had a refrigerated compartment in it. I have read that all oil goes rancid after opening and should be kept refrigerated. I have had olive oil that has gone bad. It is just hard to use it when it is in a congealed state when it comes out of the frig, and I am not sure that nuking it all the time is the answer. You can run the bottle under hot tap water, and that seems to work OK............. Kendra
Guest guest
Do you know how to be taken off this list? We will not be available to check email for some time so do not want the huge volume of messages this list involves. Thanks, Mom
Guest guest
Go to , and edit you listings. You can have them not sent right to you, and still be on the list, if you want to be. Guest guest
I am so confused about this. Some recommend you use ground flax seed for the omega acids and others say the oil works well, but others say the oil could promote prostate cancer. Ever notice how much of this stuff is couched in could's and may's and has been reported to... Most of those qualifiers are offered by those making a buck behind it somehow, too. And the more well known they become, the harder they work to make more bucks. I've paid attention to a couple of doctors over the years who talk about natural food and holistic medicine and I really have noticed how their recommendations have changed to include something they now have a financial interest in. How was it they could be right without sucking our wallets dry years ago, but nowadays they can't make a point that doesn't involve selling you something they have ties to. Maybe it is our faults, though. Like you may have seen the diet pill commercial that claims it's not for people just trying to lose a few pounds because it is much too expensive for that. $151 of this miracle weight loss. I guess they've figured out that if they just put it on the shelves at $19.95 along side the other bottles selling for $19.95, who's going to believe they are any good. Years ago, I had a house for sale for six months without much if any interest until I raised the price about $10K and then I got lots of looks. I really think people figured the house couldn't be worth bothering with if it was selling for so little. The rub was I ended up selling at the original price anyway, but it didn't hurt getting talked down from the inflated price and the buyers probably thought they were really bargaining strong. Oh, about flax... SMILE Eric
Guest guest
We grind flax seeds in a small electtric coffee grinder It works very well. You can also do large quantities in a blender.
