Guest guest
This has to be the easiest and yet one of the most flavorful soups I have ever made. I am keeping a constant supply on hand, making it once a week or so. I'm pretty loose with recipes so this is what I do. Experiment and see what you like. 1 cup yellow dal(split peas) 1/2 t ground tumeric 1/2 t ground coriander (roast the spice in a dry skillet and grind in a coffee grinder- this is a critical step) 8 cups water 1/2 large can of chopped tomatoes 1 T mustard seeds(black) toast them too till grey and popping but do not grind them. 1/2 cup cilantro salt and pepper to taste. Water and peas and tumeric, cook around 1 hour till soft. Add tomatoes, mustard seeds, ground coriander, cilantro. Put in a blender. Salt and pepper to taste. I like it with some coarse food puree but you can make it as smooth as you like. Eat! It's great! Bill
