Guest guest
This is a great recipe for when you want a more traditional, hearty, " meat " & potatoes meal. I use White Wave brand beef-style seitan, I think it's 8-10 ounces or so. This is yummy! SEITAN ROAST 1 package seitan (beef style) 4 potatoes, halved or quartered 4 large carrots, snapped into two or three pieces 1/3 cup soy sauce 1/4 cup cornstarch 1 teaspoon dill weed 1/2 teaspoon chili powder Microwave carrots and potatoes, covered, for 10 minutes (you may omit this step but it will take longer to cook). Place carrots and potatoes in shallow baking dish. Mix 1/3 cup soy sauce with 2 2/3 cups water. Pour over veggies. Cover with foil or lid. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes to 1 hour (test for tenderness). Drain liquid into pot. Mix cornstarch with some water until smooth, put in pot. Cook, stirring frequently, until thickened, adding more water if needed. Add dill and chili powder, stir. Microwave seitan until warm. Add seitan to vegetables, serve with the sauce. I usually eat this plain, ladling the sauce over it once it's served and I've mashed the potatoes a bit on my plate. Sometimes I serve it over a bed of buckwheat groats, pouring the sauce over it all. Enjoy! Discover Stay in touch with email, IM, photo sharing and more.
