Guest guest
I have a lot of recipes that call for horseradish. However, all the horseradish I find in stores has eggs in it. I looked at Pangea for it, but couldn't find any. Does anyone know either where I can buy vegan horseradish, or have a recipe that I can make? Recently, while I was on vacation, I found it in a natural foods store in a small town in Washington, so I grabbed it and brought it home with me. None of the stores in my area has the pure horseradish, yet I used to be able to find it in the " gourmet " section of the supermarket in another state I lived in. The moral is: Look for it everywhere you go, and when you find it, buy as much of it as you can carry. And send some to me. :-) Susan

Guest guest
I would check where they sell kosher stuff. I don't know for sure, but would make sense.
Guest guest
Well, that is sad. Thanks for the advise. I live in a smallish town, in Idaho. We have Albertson's and WalMart, and no other stores. So I rely heavily on mail order stores. I have always had good luck with Pangea, but not with this. I used to have a recipe for horseradish, although not vegan. Perhaps I can find it and refine it. Guest guest
Melanie, I live in Idaho too! I don't know if you are anywhere near Boise, but they have vegan horseradish at the co-op (and pretty much everything else vegan you would ever need). I also got some once at the Fred Meyer in Idaho Falls if you are near there. Kristen
Guest guest
Wow! Someone else from Idaho. I am about an hour out of Boise, on the AF Base. I love the co-op, but didn't even think about it for the horseradish. Thanks.Kristen Bonkoski <KristenBonkoski wrote: Melanie,I live in Idaho too! Guest guest
What I found in both the Comissary (military grocery store) and Walmart had egg in it. I did not think that it would, but it did. I am really glad I check the label before I purchased it though. MelanieEarnie <elumpkin wrote: << horseradish I find in stores has eggs in it. >> I have never seen horseradish with egg in it. Guest guest
Melanie, I was wondering if what you found was horseradish SAUCE. That does have egg in it but pure horseradish doesn't. Guest guest
Gayle, I'm not sure. I looked at everything I could find that was "horseradish". It was by Kraft. I do remember that. I plan to make a trip out to our co-op, and they surely will have it. Thanks, Melaniequintmom wrote: Melanie,I was wondering if what you found was horseradish SAUCE. Guest guest
Gold's brand horseradish in a jar is just grated horseradish, salt and vinegar. If your market has an 'ethnic' aisle, you may be able to find it with other " jewish' foods. it may also be found near where they keep the ketchup = ) __ Sports Rekindle the Rivalries. Guest guest
Just a last question before pessach starts. Why is my horseradish not sharp? You know the one, when you open the jar and start to cry. I grated it, added a bit of salt and vinegar. Do you think it is the quality of the horseradish itself? Thanks for any comments. Chag sameach and a lovely pessach Eliane in Amsterdam PS. A tip before you get angry if the mayonnaise does not succeed. Add potato starch. It will thicken the mayo. And try NOT to drop the bottle of oil, like I did...'vive' the cleaning!!!
Guest guest
Yes, it is probably the horseradish itself. Vegetables are like that, some have more taste than others. Don't worry about it, you've done your best. Hag sameach, Shoshana - e.r.driessen Wednesday, April 08, 2009 1:20 PM FW: Horseradish Just a last question before pessach starts.
