Guest guest
Hi everyone. My husband and I made vegan rice crispie treats for the first time today. They turned out really well. We got the marshmallows from Pangea (they no longer use Emes gelatin.) They had a sale on " irregular " packages of marshmallows that didn't pass quality tests because of texture issues, so we ordered a few bags of these. They have a recipe on the back, and that's what we used. 5 cups crisped rice 1 pkg marshmallows 6 tbsp margarine Melt margarine in a large saucepan on low heat. Add marshmallows and stir constantly until gooey. Then quickly add crisped rice, mix, and press into a 9 " pan. Allow to cool before cutting into squares. We added a little over a cup of chocolate chips, too. They didn't stick to the rest very well, but it may have been because we added them too late and they didn't get warm enough to melt. Guest guest
What was the cost and shipping of the marshmallows and the ingrediants? Guest guest
The marshmallows were ~$1.50 a bag, and we ordered them along with a bunch of other stuff. Our shipping cost was $7. Ingredientd are: Sugar (non-bone-char processed), corn syrup, agar-agar, carrageenan, soy protein, vanilla. I may or may not have said they were Pangea. Now that I have the bag in front of me, it says Vegan Sweets, not Pangea.
