Guest guest
If, like me, you use agar powder, the conversion is: 1 tablespoon agar-agar flakes = 1/2 teaspoon agar-agar powder * Exported from MasterCook * Agar Cheese Recipe By :JoAnn Rachor Serving Size : 4 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Analog Cheese Analog Vegan Option Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 3/4 cup water 1 tablespoon agar flakes -- * see note 1/3 cup cashews 1/4 cup water 3 tablespoons pimientos -- optional 3 tablespoons lemon juice 3 tablespoons yeast -- flakes * see note 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon onion powder 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder Lightly boil water and agar flakes for 3 minutes. Stir occasionally. Blend until smooth remaining ingredients. Stir all ingredients together. Chill. This cheese can be sliced. When warmed it gives a slight melting effect. Good for a faux grilled cheese. NOTE: Ingredients with a " * " refer to either another recipe or a cooking method which can be found elsewhere in the series. Unfamiliar ingredients can be found in most large grocery stores or health food stores. Source: " Source: Of These Ye May Freely Eat: A Vegetarian Cookbook " S(Posted by): " Carolyn Shaw 9-95.
