Guest guest
Hello Michelle, Michelle : Just wanted to say a quick hello. I'm a new vegetarian, only 2 weeks old! I've not had any problems without the meat, that's really not been an issue. But, I REALLY want to go dairy-free as well. So, that is a work in progress. Well, When going off of all milk, eggs, meat, and cheese, it is generally a good idea to move off of these products slowly. The human body is an incredible machine, but different people react to these types of transitioning stages differently. If you are planning on going off all meat and dairy, you will want to make certain you know where the Vitamin B-12 and the Essential Amino Acids are coming from in your diet. These are concerns even for meat eaters, but even more so for vegetarians. As concerns the amino acid issue, Hemp seed is a complete source of all 20 naturally occuring amino acids, hence it includes all the essential amino acids that your body will not create on its own. The reason it is of great importance to know about where you are getting your essential amino acids is because three of the eight or nine essential amino acids that your body does not create are called Branch Chain Amino Acids (or BCAA for short). These are the amino acids serious athletes are most concerned about getting because they play a vital role in repairing the body after strenuous performances and workouts. As for B-12, it is possible for a vegan to get all the required B-12 without eating milk, eggs, meat, and cheese. Unfortunately, the fact that it is possible to do this doesn't mean that people do it correctly. In fact, I recommend that people find a good vegan supplement to take for B-12 needs, if they are not sure they are getting enough B-12 in their diet. Just make sure the capsule linings are vegan.
