Guest guest
I was wondering if any of you can share what you prepare for lunch for your children. I feel as though I run short on healthy lunch ideas for my 5 yr old daughter. I would appreciate recipe book suggestions as well. She doesn't share too many recipes (she's working on a cookbook), but you can get pretty good ideas there. http://veganlunchbox.blogspot.com/ http://veganlunchbox.blogspot.com/2005_09_01_veganlunchbox_archive.html
Guest guest
I saw a recommendation for The Natural Lunchbox (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1570670269/002-5388785-6276027?v=glance) in Becoming Vegan. It didn't get a great review on Amazon, but I'm going to look for it today anyway. Monica - N. Guest guest
Sumayyah, Here are some lunch ideas for kids that I can think of: - peanut butter and jelly sandwich - carrots, celery, apples, or other stuff dipped in peanut butter - vegan cream cheese sandwich, possibly with olives (split in half) also or with jelly - hummus with veggies or pita bread pieces to dip in it - hummus sandwich - tortilla spread with mushed beans, salsa, chopped tomato, other chopped veggies, rolled up and heated a little - leftovers from dinner - vegan pancakes or waffles - soup: tomato, lentil, black bean, vegetable - spaghetti or other pasta with tomato sauce - vegan hot dog - vegan burger Rachael
Guest guest
thanks Rachael! I will have to add some of these to my list - unfortunately when i switched from the "junky" peanut butter to actual peanut butter, my daughter decided that she did not like peanuts or peanut butter. go figure :-) she is not a pasta with sauce lover either which really hurts my lunch time options. I have to try the hummus sandwich for sure because i think she will like that. Guest guest
Sumayyah, I'm not sure how well these would be for going to school, since we homeschool and have lunch at home or in the park, but here is what we have: PB & Preserve Sandwiches Mac & Chreeze (Instant Vegan Mac & Cheese) Soups with homemade vegan biscuits Soy Yogurt and Fruit Cups Veggie burgers or nuggets with homemade fries Salads with lots of veggies Grilled Cheese - with Vegan cheese slices Stirfries with Vegan " chick " strips (Morningstar Farms, I think) I hope that helps some. I'm a recent vegetarian trying to do vegan as much as possible. It's been pretty easy, except for cheese - LOL Cara

Guest guest
> where do you find the vegan instant mac and cheese? > > Sumayyah I found it at Whole Foods. You can also order it online from them. http://www.chreese.com/pastas.itml Some like it, others don't. The nutritional yeast " cheese " might take some getting used to it.
