Guest guest
Karey, you're right about the Smart Balance only the light is vegan. If you have questions about different foods, PETA has a wonderful list called "I Can't Believe It's Vegan". This is a list of foods you can find at your run-of-the-mill grocery stores that are vegan. You can find it at: http://www.peta.org/accidentallyVegan/ There's also a kid version at: http://www.petakids.com/accvegan.html I use Earth Balance, my mom uses Smart Balance. I love the Earth Balance. The Smart Balance is okay. To my mom, the Earth Balance is okay and she loves the Smart Balance. I can get the Earth Balance in some grocery stores for an average price of $2.99. Besides sticks and tubs, it also comes whipped. Guest guest
I think you're right. I know fighting the meat addiction was as hard for me as the cheese addiction. I'm so thankful for meat analogues. We've got a freezer full of Morningstar Farms that is really helping us during this transitional period. I think you're right. Scientists say that the fat in meats actually put us into a feeding frenzy. Those two things alone make me understand why I felt so good when I quit eating both. Guest guest
Depends on the type. The light version is indeed listed as pareve. I checked it out for myself last night when I was looking in a local supermarket, and reminded of why I can't shop in a mainstream supermarket anymore (no dessert that doesn't contain either dairy or aspartame). Guest guest
It's the same for me. I can get Veganaise in 4 stores locally but no one carries Vegan Gourmet. You can buy it online...if you want to pay $25 for overnight shipping. I was in Seattle recently (a mecca to all things veg) and I bought some (from a Whole Foods, no less, but ours doesn't carry it), froze it and brought it home with me. I taste tested it there but the two packages I got here aren't going to last very long! Fortunately, I go back again soon but I'm also going to ask the stores that carry Veganaise to carry it as well. If they don't know that people want it, they won't bother carrying it so I'm going to start requesting it! Guest guest
Karey if they wont stock it ask if they will special order it for you. Ive been waiting 2 years to find a place that carries vegan gourmet .There are not many vegans in my community so even the health food stores treat us like freaks .When my local whole foods store (LOVEs whole foods ) agreed to order it i was thrilled .They offer more vegan options than any other in the area . I buy it monthly from them .No matter how often I tell them that vegan gourmet is far superior to the 1 type of nasty vegan cheese they stock they simply wont add vegan gourmet to their regular stock ... I just dont get it ! Teresa Re: Smart Balance > It's the same for me. I can get Veganaise in 4 stores locally but > no one carries Vegan Gourmet.
