Guest guest
>1) It's good that Burger King and others have seen the emerging and >growing market for vegetarian choices among consumers who purchase in fast >food chains. Are they offering vegan burgers or just veggie ones then? And is this by design or just coincidence that it doesn't include by products that vegetarians would not object to? I've noticed it mentioned on a lot of lists recently that they have introduced a veggie burger but I can only assume this is in the US. Here in the UK they have had two veggie options for a long time. A bean burger (which is vegan as far as I know although apparently it is also usually cooked in the same fryer as chicken), and a veggie burger which uses egg albumen (so not vegan) but is vegetarian society approved and very clear shows their logo on the menu. >6) I think that it's good that we are strongly and much more quickly now > " becoming fully mainstream. " YAY! I agree entirely. I find it bizzare that people object so much to fast food restaurants offering vegan and veggie food. I assume people object to such places because they deal in meat and so entwined with that to which we object. But then so do most stores (be them supermarkets or local ones) and even organic shops sell organic meat, and I don't know of many health food shops that don't sell dairy or products with animal by products. It seems they are damned just because of people's personal biases, which would be such a shame. To the general population it is through such places selling veggie food that it becomes accepted as normal and not just something for us freaky people. Guest guest
Oh, I forgot to mention that in the UK Veggie Whoppers (as they are called) are microwaved so there is no cross contamination, which was probably a requirement for Vegetarian Society approval. It seems the new US ones are grilled/broiled, most likely on the same equipment as meat so technically are not vegetarian like their UK equivalents.
