I had a bloody good reply to this but IE for Mac seems to have lost it and has no undo facility. And really Ihave no patience with the lot of you to type it all out again. And it included sex. So I'm just going to post what didn't get lost because it makes the point I wanted to say anyway... This discussion looks to be getting out of hand, can everyone step back and think before writing because I have no qualms in moderating anyone. > That is a much more serious harm than > beating up a gay person and causing a few bruises, because the person still > has his or her life. Why do you feel the need to classify one harm as worse than another, can't they just both be bad? And what for the argument that the gay person will have to suffer, possibly for the rest of their life, something the aborted child did not, or at worst only briefly? I have no desire to argue this but some people might, and I doubt it would be pretty. I'm happy to defend your right to express you view on abortion, I don't agree but I respect it because it is unusally very coherent and lacking contradiction, but if you're going to start making comments like that there isn't much I can do to help. You haven't said anything wrong in the rules of the list but surely you must know how people will respond and how neutral people will consider you? I can assure you it does you no favours and threatens to inflame the situation. Michael The getting weary list owner
Guest guest
I'd like to have read that good reply you lost, a shame you lost it. Please understand, since you say the reply included something about sex, that I am not judging Jane for being sexually active as a teenager, sex is not the issue, taking innocent life in a non-self-defence situation is the issue here. If she was to use violence to defend herself against anyone it should have been against her violent alcoholic father, not her own baby! If she had to do violence it would have been better to stab him to death in self-defence (and bury him under the patio maybe) than abort her baby. But it's easier to do what is legal than to fight back against a bully, I guess, if you can fool yourself that you are just removing bit of your own body. My theory still stands that Jane finds it easier to demonise me and make false assumptions about my character, than to look critically at the killing she was so very closely involved in and is still in denial about. By classifying a beating up as less than killing (it seems obvious, and I fail to see why that would be inflammatory), I'm trying to help people who are extremely against Cardinal Winning, to get these issues into perspective. To many people, the unborn perhaps do not seem real, as they are small and not seen (except on ultrasound). I am so looking forward to the Pro-life Alliance being allowed to show the reality of abortion on TV, just as Channel 4 screened the Animals Film. I would think it would have a similar effect on people's attitudes to abortion as the Animals Film had on attitudes to animals. You may not agree with me on abortion, but that does not surprise me too much as you are someone who has suffered severe depression and been suicidal, so perhaps that makes you feel quite differently from me about how important it is to allow humans to live, since you have difficulty respecting your own life. I have no problem with valuing my own life, therefore no problem valuing another human life. Maybe because of your psychological make-up, you cannot feel the same about this issue. I find it harder to understand Jane's perspective of apparently denying even the existence of her own child, as she clearly loves life and loves being auntie to her friends' children.
