Guest guest
michael, don't be unfair please. i only mentioned cardinal whinning as part of my argument about certain kinds of christianity & homophobia in a message aimed mostly at ned. i'd temporarily forgotten about his involvement in the anti-abortion movement & didn't mention the 'a' word until ms dove did, her words being then backed up by simon. lesley & i will never agree - i can live with that - because she insists on the unscientific and sentimental belief that a foetus is a child. in my opinion it is not. so to talk of my denial (please spare me the pyschobabble cliches) is meaningless to me. 'of course you would say that, wouldn't you', i can hear her saying. well, yes i would and do. for the record, i would rather have not got pregnant in the first place & in fact, i did try to avoid it but these things happen. i've moved on, no regrets. it was a long time ago. just because i like kids doesn't mean i beat myself up for having an abortion - remember, i believe that every child should be a wanted child. as for you angsting over the morning after pill, lesley, that to me is a bit like a catholic male angsting about masturbating cos it's spilling seed/potential life. both views are primitive gobbledegook to me. i'm sorry if your experiences caused you grief, but i suggest you move on. as for my father, in case anyone is thinking i was a victim of sexual abuse, because of lesley's somewhat ambiguous wording, i wasn't and never have been thankfully. his was emotional abuse with the constant threat of physical violence, which he tried on occasion. by the time i got pregnant i had left home & i was just exploring my sexuality, albeit haphazardly & so bloody what? i'm a believer in sexual liberation & what people choose to do or not to do is nobody's business but theirs. i only brought up my own abortion as part of the argument that started up last time... enough already. sorry to everyone else about this, it's fucking boring, isn't it? you can poke at me all you like, lesley, i don't demonise you. i am simply bored by your authoritarian & narrow minded views. sorry, janey, if you've returned to this old chestnut - we were all getting on ok until this. let's move on, shall we? Guest guest
Hi Jane I don't mind discussions like abortion, but I am reading the same stuff on my return as I was before I went offline!!! We all know Lesley's views and everyone else's views on the subject and have been able to read the same views on all the other vegan lists too (!!!) that's why its all getting a bit tedious. If there was new ground to cover, then okay, but when a subject gets as base as *baby killing* name calling and so forth, then its time to move on. I hope you won't be leaving though Jane the First! Guest guest
> I don't mind discussions like abortion, but... Personally I agree with you entirely and I just wish everyone else was the same then I wouldn't have to ask people to leave subjects alone, sigh. > I hope you won't be leaving though Jane the First! She's already gone, but she's still on the uncensored list if you want to post it there. Michael
