Hmm, yeah, it isn't within the spirit of the list, so please Viv no more like that on here. It's also being discussed on the uncensored list so if you're going to say things like that can you do it on there. Michael

Guest guest
So what IS the form? I say to whoever I'm replying to " Please see my reply on the other list " ?. Maybe it's about time I got off this list too - and no, I'm not saying this for " Please don't go's " . Just seems the other list is more honest. Better take me off the moderator's list cos from now on I'll be reading but not wasting my time replying. Why beat aound the bush? I didn't like Di and don't particularly care for her sons. Wonder how many other old women died this weekend with no-one to mourn them. Wonder how many people died because they were denied medical treatment. How long might we all live if we had preferential treatment all our lives. This reverence for a particular family makes no sense at all. > > " mavreela " <nec.lists > Tue 02/Apr/2002 19:56 CEST > > Re: QUEEN MOTHER DEAD AT LAST!!!![OT] > > > What a horrible thing to say! *Thankfully now deceased*??? > > Hmm, yeah, it isn't within the spirit of the list, so please Viv no > more like that on here. Guest guest
why it is deserving of any reverence over any other family doesn't make any sense either... born rich... send your people to war .... die rich and well looked after ... doctors to run to your side whenever you are slightly sick ... waited on hand and foot... good education ... nice big house to live in ... no worries where the next meal is coming from ... (many cooks and servants in the kitchen) ... they have it easy... they could run a Royal Big Brother show ... we could get them to do circus tricks and photocopy themselves onto papier mache models... > > mavreela [nec.lists] > Tuesday, April 02, 2002 10:29 PM > > Re: QUEEN MOTHER DEAD AT LAST!!!![OT] > > > > This reverence for a particular family makes no sense at all. > > As far as I'm concerned if anyone said " better of without them " or > similar about anyone I would not allow it. Guest guest
> born rich... True > send your people to war .... Which century are you living in? I think you'll find they have very little actual power nowadays, just lots and lots of wealth. It's the government that sends people to war, those who are put into power by other people with lots of money. > they have it easy... Do they? Look at all the fuss made of the various royal marriages falling down. They aren't anything unusual in Britiain and happen to many people who don't have to deal with it being splashed all over the papers. Take the hypocrasy over the Wessex's (I don't know their names), if they don't work they get accused of living off of the state, if they do work they get accused of taking advantage of their royal connection. You can say what you like about their privilege but that doesn't mean it's easy for them. They have relatively little private life One of the arguments in favour of keeping a royality is that they are a tourist attracton! How would you like it if your every move was scrutinized, hundreds of people camped outside of yor house trying to catch a glimpse of you? There is a saying that money can't buy you happiness and I agree. They have plenty of money, an obscene amount (as does the church) that could be put to use in very beneficial ways and so they are guilty of that. But that doesn't mean they are lucky or have it easy. Their entire life is orchestrated (admittedly by the insitution which they form) and they have very little control over it. They, as with the oppressed workers, are stupefied by their position, one which instills in them the idea that what they are doing is right, and so are incapable of change. I don't entirely go along with such a (neo?) Marxist view but it is certainly a factor. > they could run a Royal Big Brother show ... Haven't the media already turned it into that? And just to underline all this I'll " out " myself and say that I am in no way a supporter of the Royal Family or royality and I certainly don't agree with what it stands for. Guest guest
So we " got along just fine " before I brought " him " into it did we? And while we are on the subject of prerequisites...anything else I shouldn't talk about if we are to " get along just fine " Maybe, just maybe, if we all set out our conditions before we converse we will all " get along just fine " How wonderful it could be; yes? Heres a few of mine for anyone remotely interested in " getting along fine with me " . 1. Do not mention my mother and fathers prostitution that fed me when I was a child. 2. Do not devalue my comments simply because they are loaded with " swear " words or because you find the tone impolite. 3. Do not assume I am pig-headed, arrogant fool. 4. Try not to take yourself too seriously. 5. Stop thinking I am MrBiG. Guest guest
But you have to remember others have their do's and don'ts too ! Even those with "perfect" childhoods will be influenced by what has happened to them My mothers dislike of her Catholic upbringing (and being punished by being put in a pitch-black coal -hole with crawling insects ) lead to my dislike of any authoritan church preaching one thing and doing something else , and my fear of spiders My mothers obsession to drag herself out of poverty by respecting education and becoming very good at English and therefore disliking slang /swear words etc. My feelings, that I need to get things right and being a teacher to help others to not make spelling mistakes etc . I expect to be corrected , so I do not continue with the error. Therefore I automatically want to correct others for the same reason . I was brought up to think that swear words were only used in general conversation, because the person had insufficient command of the English language to use any other words. Many such words seem to be a put down of women which is disrespectful of me and my mum , or insulting to men which is disrespectful of my dad and sons .Swear words are meant to be insulting so why use them unless you mean to insult someone. I feel ill at ease with people who swear all the time. We are all affected by our upbringing Its a pity you are not Mr BiG as from personal experience I can say He was not a pig-headed arrogant fool . He was a friendly ,intelligent chap but apt to swear a bit !!!! - pctalking Wednesday, April 03, 2002 10:34 PM Re: QUEEN MOTHER DEAD AT LAST!!!![OT]1.
