Now they're saying 1m people crowded Westminster for the slow ten minute

passage of QM from Westminster Hall to Westminster Abbey!!!

But you couldn't fit anything like a million people in that space even if

you could fill the whole road taken by the parade!

Beware Government Lie Machine Writing History in Defence of Monarchy and

Chill out Edith, don't worry about it!!!!!! Make yourself a nice herbal tea

and lie down in a darkened room. You'll feel better in no time!

p.s. Where is Ian and Lesley? Have they too deserted this sinking ship

that was once a popular vegan e-group?! *lol*

Pay attention Edith, the news reports said 1m people lined the route

from Westminister to Windsor. You'll never make court correspondent

if you can't get your facts right.

Is betting on when ANYONE dies really in the spirit of this list?

I don't really care who they are, I apply the same rule for the royal

family as I do for messages about for your own families or even for people

you don't know. Some people may deserve it more than others, but that's

not the point.

Nicey, nicey, now.

It is when they regularly kill wild life that " belongs" to all of us . The only safe aristo is a dead one , from the animals point of view and I'm on the animal's (victim's ) side

the most depressing thing about it, as my girlfriend pointed out

emotionally... and she found the whole thing insulting...

is that... those at the funeral are living their lives through someone

else... living their emotions through someone who does not have anything to

do with them ... as people seem to be getting sad or happy over Beckham ...

Big Brother.... angry over footballers... elated over footballers...

mourning the Queen Mum's death is just another excuse to show to the world

that we are living vicarious lives... living through someone else...

from Ananova News:

" Three people have been struck down with hypothermia after camping out

overnight in a bid for prime positions to watch the Queen Mother's funeral

procession in Westminster.

The Red Cross says the trio, believed to be middle-aged, were taken to

hospital after police noticed their distress.

The charity says it is unlikely that they would be well enough to rejoin the

crowds filling Westminster in time for the service "

Why the £%* " would they want to rejoin if they have hypothermia?

(i doubt they were middle-aged... i don't believe them... either they were

or they weren't...)

they probably recorded the whole thing aswell on tv...

Hmm, I had a similar kind of reaction with my partner when they said on the

TV news about the people who got ill.

> those at the funeral are living their lives through someone

>else...

If you ask me those that are getting so worked up by royalty are also

living their lives through someone else. Just being driven by hatred.

This reaction is as old as the hills. People do it everywhere, even

on this list, people often emotionaly attach themselves to the

plight of animals and get upset. This emotional connection is often

held high in regard, in that because they cry etc, they really care.

It's got nothing to do with caring. My mum has a friend who crys at

every funeral, suffers every woe of everyone. It's sickening to

watch. To be so vacant of displeasure that you have to express your

painfull void in empathy with anothers suffering.

This is why I sometimes don't like the " abotoir " style AR leaflets.

Emotional blackmail sucks.

i won't ask you then ...

if your emotions are dragged around by the actions of another...?

then aren't you allowing yourself to be driven by something external... not

by hatred....?

if you see people allowing themselves to be dominated this way... you can

understand the avoidance that is prevalent in our society of our own

problems and our own suffering...

if you yourself are suffering whilst watching these people avoiding their

own suffering ... it's likely it will anger you ... much like a person

giving up cigarettes gets angry watching someone else relieving their

mental/emotional suffering by having a cigarette...

when we suffer ... what can anger us the most is seeing other people

avoiding it...

this goes for AR and veganism ... many on this list will admit to getting

angry when they see meat-eaters ... hunters ... etc... who are really

mentally 'avoiding' what i think is an innate compassion for the suffering

of animals/other humans... (albeit through years of social conditioning)...

Monarchy is not a person and is not equal to the person of the monarch!

Every royalist knows that, even if Michael does not!

Monarchy is an obscurantist institution of governance in a filthy social

hierarchy of theft, exploitation and murder and deserves the hatred that cut

down Charles Stuart and the Bourbon, Hapsburg, Hozenzollern and Romanov scum

but never went far enough!

Hate, hate, hate!

What would you suggest instead? Have you thought of the costs implication

of no longer having a Royal Family? Who would you have run this country?

No, on second thoughts, don't answer. I somehow think I don't want to know!

But wishing someone dead is equating it with a person. Wouldn't reform be

better?

How many members of this list used to be meat eaters? Should we hate them

for what they did, or let them off because they changed.

Fine, try telling it to Oliver though. I'm the one who said hate is a good

>What would you suggest instead?

Why does there need to be something in place of a royal family? I really

don't understand why people automatically presume that we would have to

have a president if we stopped being a monarchy.

>Have you thought of the costs implication of no longer having a Royal Family?

Wouldn't we just save all the money that goes towards the civil list,

probably the upkeep of various buildings, as well as extra income from the

royal family paying full taxation as would be required of anyone else.

>Who would you have run this country?

In the last century the monarchy only once refused to sign a parliamentary

act, and that was because parliament requested it as the law was no longer

required and this way was more expedient than having to go through the

whole process of having it repealed.

The monarchist part of our " Parliamentary Monarchy " system of government is

purely ceremonial and so to remove it from this position would make no

difference at all to the running of the country.

As for parliamentary democracy, it allows people who know nothing about

complex matters to choose the government which will best pander to their

own short term interests and preserve the status quo. A government, that

is, formed of people who stand not for the interests of their constituents,

or even their own ideologies, but those of the ruling executive of the

party for which they stand. Parties which, for sake of their own survival,

take their funding from commercial organizations which have their own

interests and so are able to assert influence over policy.

I'm fully aware of that.

But a lot of money is generated because we have a Royal Family. Tourism

etc. And besides the fact, the majority of people love them anyway.

Is money really everything? Maybe when I hear talk of all the jobs which

would be lost through abolishing hunting I should actually take them

seriously? How much of the Pamplona tourism industry is based around the

running of the bulls? I always get skeptical about political and ethical

arguments when money is seemingly put ahead of what it is right or fair.

Anyway, unlike Edith, I'm not advocating killing them off so they will

still be there for people to love or spend money gawking over if they must.

That said it is the palaces and other buildings that the visitors actually

see, not the royal family itself, so think how much more money we could

make by opening up Balmoral and the rest to the public.

And really, is it fair to saw that because they just happened to be born

into the royal family they must be forced into being a tourist

attraction? It's probably in their own best interests to be allowed to

become normal people, without their every move being opened to public scrutiny.

Somehow " it's alright to sacrifice their right to a normal life because it

brings in tourism money " just doesn't make good reading to me.

I never consider royalty .but I get angry about the media making up lies ,saying how upset the nation is etc ..It is important to counter it so we know we are not alone . We also have to guard against the increasing hysteria that the media encourage .

I also get annoyed when my programmes on TV get dropped .

It happens for that other "god" called football

I think it is in everyones interests that we all borrow as much as

possible and refuse as far as possible to pay it back. It's also a

good idea to spend or sell your aquired borrowings on the black

market. Oh and did I say smash up posh cars?...but not posh scooters

like MrBigs... he needs it to deliver vital black market medical

supplies to invalids....honest!

The QM was in debt who pays for that ?? I don't benefit from tourists nor do most people

How can people love people they don't know ?.

I think most people aren't bothered but they are afraid to say so because the media have been telling us we are upset .

The kids in my school got it right . I heard a few complaining about having to go to the hall for a talk and a minutes silence " Why have we got to do that" . "what did she ever do for us ?.She wouldn't care if I died " etc etc But they were made to go along with the pretence .so all the newspapers could say that everyone observed the silence .

But Michael, not all Royals are born into the family! Plenty of them MARRY

into the Royal Family. So there is obviously some attraction to it all!

Look at the Queen Mother's send off, and she wasn't born into that family,

so she did have a choice which direction her life took!

That was just media hype for the cameras. Most people either carried

on working, got a cup of tea, went for a fag etc, and all those who

worked in supermarkets and shops that were closed for the funeral had

a few hours off and got paid for it.

anyone who gives a negative reason for not having a monarchy is not living

with the creative spirit ...

monarchy = bad ... get rid of it .. and something will take its place...

maybe something a lot better... maybe something a lot worse ... (big

business cowered to by President Blair)...

hmm... i could paint a really bleak future for Britain ... but i don't need

to anymore... :-)
