Pharmacists are trained to know about such matters, that is why there is a difference between drugs which are available only from a chemist and ones which are available anywhere. It could even be argued that a pharmacist is more qualified to understand the actual details of the effects of a drug as this is there specialist area, whereas doctors do not have the time to go into such detail. Let's not put down pharmacists, they aren't just shop assistants. Eitherway, this is off topic so can people please indicate. Guest guest
Sorry for forgetting to add the O/T. I must say the local pharmacist was pretty hopeless when I asked for something for conjunctivitis this week (my son had it although it was not really bothering him - he had pink whites of the eyes and sticky discharge sticking his eyelids together in the morning when he woke up and we know he got it from his uncle or nanna in Cheshire who had it when we visited), the pharmacist said I would have to go to the doctor which seems ridiculous for such a thing, especially as such minor ailments are usually better by the time you get an appointment and the doctor is usually booked up a week in advance. NHS Direct had recommended asking the pharmacist, which is often OK for minor ailments. Later that day, I did look on the web and found numerous directions and recommendations for using diluted boric acid crystals for eye bathing among other things, so I am at a loss as to why the pharmacist was so unhelpful. There were lots of other ideas on the web using a Google search. I wish I had looked on the web first and just asked for that! His eyes are quite a lot better, although I never managed to get anything for them, but my daughter has started with it so I will be trying to get it tomorrow.
