Guest guest
No, war isn't peace, that was just a cynical quote. I guess I know what peace means, but most of it is largely impossible: world peace, for example. , " zorgster " <oliver@l...> wrote: > if you know what it means then fine ... > > is war peace? > > in war people kill each other... in peace there is no killing... > > , " djules_75 " <djules_75> wrote: > > What about " war is peace " for a quote? > >

Guest guest
that's good ... you've moved from impossible to 'most of it is largely impossible' ... let's go further... there are two ways... the Palestinians have been kicked off their land... houses destroyed... their response has been fairly violent against the violent incursions made against them... there has been about 50 years of violent conflict... hatred and anger... the Tibetans were invaded about 50 years ago by the Chinese... many were killed... without a struggle... some went into exile... some are still there... their land being taken away by companies like ChinaOil (can't remember their real name), BP .. etc... (large oil basin under Tibet!) ... there have been no suicide bombers... no violent protestations... nuns and monks and civilians (not making a contrast here)... have been arrested for singing... and made to work in sweat shops .. beaten ... there has been no resistance... the Dalai Lama still speaks of love and compassion... both about oil ... China's interest in Tibetan oil (excavation of which would destroy/is destroying the ecology of Tibet)... America's interest in having a state amongst the oil producing countries... both strategic military locations ... Israel in Middle East.. Tibet poised over India etc... both violent incursions... US-backed Israel bulldozing houses... terrorising Palestinians by driving around in tanks... China swept in to Tibet... killed lots of Tibetans... but two completely different responses by the victim peoples... , " djules_75 " <djules_75> wrote: > No, war isn't peace, that was just a cynical quote. Guest guest
In both cases of the responses by by the victim peoples, there is still conflict. I don't see what the point is. In both cases the problem is the invading countries, it boils down to power, money and religion. Whether the invaded countries fight back or remain peaceful, they're still in the same situation. I read somewhere that in all the years since world war two there have only been around 24 hours of world peace, and most of them were immediately after the war... This is easy to believe, at any one point in time there is always some kind of war going on somewhere. I also believe that if all the world's humans were vegan, there would be no more wars, no more hunger, and less unjustice. There would probably be more gimps and petty arguments though, but thats ok. j , " zorgster " <oliver@l...> wrote: > that's good ... you've moved from impossible to 'most of it is > largely impossible' ... > > let's go further... > > there are two ways... > > the Palestinians have been kicked off their land... houses > destroyed... their response has been fairly violent against the > violent incursions made against them... there has been about 50 > years of violent conflict... hatred and anger... > > the Tibetans were invaded about 50 years ago by the Chinese... many > were killed... without a struggle... some went into exile... some > are still there... their land being taken away by companies like > ChinaOil (can't remember their real name), BP .. etc... Guest guest
not true... the Tibetan leader is free to go around the world (except China, N. Korea - with difficulty to Japan, and Korea) and give talks... tell his story... raise money for Tibetan refugees... run the Tibetan goverment-in-exile ... millions of pounds gets poured into the funds for refugees... the Palestinian leader is holed up in a compound surrounded by tanks with snipers pointed at him... in both cases there is the fact of invading countries (superpowers)... the two responses are 'punch and punch back' and 'punch and talk your way out of it' > > djules_75 [djules_75] > > In both cases of the responses by by the victim peoples, there is > still conflict. Guest guest
Its okay Lesley, I think it was Edith's attempt at humour.
