Dead right, Leslie?

Even kids who have had horrible upbringings in dire conditions-

anything from smoking parents to poverty to arguments in family

whatever, when they grow up are still capable of enjoying life and

not being terminally depressed. If you take the kids away from their

parents just because they have a fault in the way they bring up their

kids, how do you know their new foster home is not going to have some

kind of a problem, maybe worse than a mother smoking, like a foster

father who is secretly a pedophile or something.

Foster parents are thoroughly checked, but anyone who is fertile can have

their own children, you don't need to pass a competency test for it,

unfortunately, so more chance of child abuse from the real parents

especially if they are drug addicts of some form or another.

I probably wouldn't pass it myself if there was a competency test, I'm not

perfect, but then no smokers would pass it either.
