Tech hat time, critical thinking and computers, and all in one day. mavreela said (in raw SMTP format time): > >Wed, 01 May 2002 13:07:48 +0000 uncle Oliver said (in nicely formatted system time): > > Wednesday, May 01, 2002 2:35 PM SMTP headers (which I quoted, and which Eudora uses,) are not based on the system where you read a message, but are set on the computers the email travels through. And the Date header is set by the sender. Also SMTP times should be given relative to GMT, hence it should have read +0100 after the time to indicate 1 hour ahead of GMT. Technically of course it was the right GMT (+0000 ) time, but without timezone conversion on my mail client it comes up wrong. Admittedly maybe Edith sent the message from the site (I can't be bothered to check) so maybe they are the ones who are causing the problem, but whichever computer originated the email isn't sending the time in nice proper BST format. Way too much words for way too trivial an issue. Michael
