Having read about the aims of this list yesterday morning, I thought I'd and experience an environment of positivity, friendliness and mutual understanding between fellow vegans at a time when such an atmosphere would be beneficial to me. After all, the welcome message said: " Please be aware that this is the NEW group which aims to foster a welcoming and supportive atmosphere, the original list which allowed more unrestricted speech and had a more heated environment has been renamed VegansUncensored " . Here I am on my first day on this list reading a whole load of messages which basically amount to nothing more than a massive and clearly lengthy flamewar. If this list fosters a " welcoming and supportive atmosphere " , what must VegansUncensored be like? Do members of that list go round to each others' houses and kill each other? On what little evidence I've seen so far, I can only assume you've all long since run out of things to talk about and have taken to spending all your time slagging each other off! So, have I caught you all on a bad day, or is this stream of vitriol standard fare on a list which " allows for a more welcoming and non judgmental atmosphere which should be more supportive of the needs of vegans " ? Maybe it's all one huge in-joke which I'm not getting? Please, do enlighten me! Chris W

Hi Chris and Welcome to the list! Unless of course you're the kind of *vegan* who just can't resist a good fascist and wants to " welcome " the killer filth into AR groups! When *vegans* like that start gloating and telling people like me to " stop whining " about what the fascists would do to us the *discussion* tends to get a bit heated, you know? Yeah, I'm afraid you could find this list a bit of shock! Like we got people (or Leslie) on here who would force raped women to term in *protective custody*! Sometimes it is just fuc*ing unreal! Sometimes mutual support for vegan ideals involves a bit of a fight! Guest guest
Hello Chris and many apologies for the current flamewar over nazis, I accidentally started it by asking the innocent and genuine question " do right wing vegans exist? " and it escalated into this. Usually they get heated over things like abortion topics. Wonder whats next. By the way, if anyone is reading this other than Chris, can I just point out that the Nazis would be extremely happy to know that so much time and emotion is being devoted to them, and they are probably reading the nazi discussion gloating and laughing at the insensibility of Ediths over-excited posts, and learning from her how to distort reality and make relatively sane people look like monsters. They are probably even wishing that Edith was part of their crew. Guest guest
>Here I am on my first day on this list reading a whole load of >messages which basically amount to nothing more than a massive and >clearly lengthy flamewar. There is a genuine disagreement between people on the issue of whether fascists should be welcome at AR events (that is what was originally being discussed) and so it is, I feel, a relevant issue for discussion. I admit though the way it was conducted was abominable and I have now taken action over that. I would love to say yesterday was a bad day, but patches like that crop up all the time which is why I split the list into two. Unfortunately those like yourself rarely speak up and so are often ignored. Not least of which because some feel that no one has the right to tell them to behave in any way other than they want, and don't seem to care about how anyone else feels about it. I do hope you stay, hopefully things should die down now, and the list can start living up to the description. I just wish more of those people who said that is the kind of list they would like, and didn't participate in the past because it was not like that, will join in after I made all the effort of changing the list for them. Jules, please tell me why you should not be moderated for that. To help you consider the following extract from list rule #1: >This does not mean other members cannot question any view that has been >expressed, nor should you expect your own view not to become the subject >of debate, but that members should not be attacked personally for the view >they hold, and only their reasoning should be open to criticism. Maybe I'm just missing something, the rule isn't clear enough, people seem so intent on flagrantly ignoring the rules that maybe there things aren't clear enough somewhere, and I don't want to moderate people over a misunderstanding. Guest guest
Maybe Chris does not want to get drawn into this, I could understand that personally. Whichever view you take someone is rude to you. It's not the kind of discussion I came here to have to be honest. It isn't what I thought this list was about based on the description. There doesn't seem to be much discussion anyway, just slanging matches between people who clearly don't like each other very much. If that's what I wanted, I'd still be participating in uk.politics.animals. Cheers Chris W
