Guest guest
Hi Shell Yes, its hard transitioning to raw and most people do it very gradually. I went on a 3 day raw vegan retreat at the beginning of this month in Cornwall and it helped loads. The food was amazing - much tastier than any cooked food I have ever had! There were experts there too - Dr Doug Graham and Professor Rozalind Gruben and their presentations were invaluable. Do I ever get hungry? Nope! Being a raw vegan isn't just about eating lettuce. Look how filling bananas and avocadoes are. Plus raw recipes are just like cooked recipes - especially the puddings. I don't recall ever getting hungry on raw. Just feeling much healthier, having more energy and losing weight. :-) Love, Janey www.shazzie.com - " andy.mich " <andy.mich Monday, May 27, 2002 1:38 AM Re: Janey > Hi Janey, > I couldn't do just raw I'm sure, although I know the health benefits. > Wish I could though, as I'm a bit on the blobby side! Guest guest
No, you can't eat food warmed up, just in its natural state. No, raw vegans don't eat soya sauce or anything that's not *natural* ie. not man made. I don't use cocoa powder, but I sometimes use raw carob in puddings and smoothies. :-) Love, Janey x - " andy.mich " <andy.mich Monday, May 27, 2002 4:42 AM Re: Shell/Janey > Yes, I bet the days away at the raw food meeting helped. Guest guest
Yes, I bet the days away at the raw food meeting helped. Often, I try to bulk up meals with bean sprouts and that works quite well. If I'm right, you can still eat raw food warmed up, just not cooked. One raw meal I do like is grated raw carrot, bean sprouts and sweetcorn, mixed up with soy sauce and vinegar, do you eat soy sauce? Sorry if I seem a bit ignorant on this topic. I love bananas, and I like them frozen, then defrosted for about 15 minutes, or until manageable, then mashed up with a fork and some cocoa powder. Love Shell.
