Guest guest
anyone familiar with the website planetveggie.co.uk? They are selling jewellery on leather thongs. I emailed them to say I didn't think this was appropriate and got this reply: (from cathy) Hello Tracy Thanks for your e-mail. As long as you don't eat the jewellery, then they're veggie. Guest guest
>anyone familiar with the website planetveggie.co.uk? Thanks for the tip-off, I hope we'll all now know that this is not really a vegetarian company (I say not having visited the site). Sadly there are too many veggies who think the ethical reasons which lead them to such a diet stop with what they eat, and will wear leather, and even drink alcohol clarified with animal products, without a second thought. Guest guest
Pity they didn't think to ask the cow's opinion !! Doesn't seem like a good website to me Perhaps we should all question their ethics , or lack of them !!!!! Guest guest
I'll know not to log onto their website! Thanks for the heads up! I can't believe her reply! Did that sound patronising to anyone else? I was actually one of those veggies (for 9 years unfortunately!) until I stumbled across a few veg*n web sites a few months back & learnt all about it and decided to try at being vegan. It is really lack of education (hard to get educated about all things veg in a meat-eater's society!). I didn't even KNOW alcohol could be non-veggie! I even bought leather shoes due to thinking there was no alternative (I would have never bought any other leather clothing though) as I just assumed the animals were dying anyway - so we may as well use it. I obviously know that's not the case now & all it took was one website. Its a pity we can't reach all vegetarians to inform them more about what they use, the dairy industry etc. If they knew it was all tied in with the meat industry they may try to be vegan. My point is that not all of the vegetarians knocking back their Guiness may know it has been filtered with animal products. Its all about knowledge & most things come without warnings... (hope I haven't offended anyone with talk of the 'L' word etc! I'll top waffling now!) --- Mavreela <nec.lists wrote:

& gt;anyone familiar with the website planetveggie.co.uk?

Thanks for the tip-off, I hope we'll all now know that this is not really a
vegetarian company (I say not having visited the site).

Sadly there are too many veggies who think the ethical reasons which lead
them to such a diet stop with what they eat, and will wear leather, and
even drink alcohol clarified with animal products, without a second thought.

Michael

Guest guest
Well actually, their website has both a guest book and a message board, so maybe some of us could express our opinions there ... Guest guest
I've since exchanged a few more e-mails with her, and she apologised for her flippant reply and said she'd been having a bad day. Didn't apologise for having leather on her website though ... At 08:46 AM 8/15/2002 +0100, you wrote: >I'll know not to log onto their website! Thanks for >the heads up! I can't believe her reply! Guest guest
Glad she did. What a meanie she sounds like. I'm off to post on their message board! (She seems to be in the wrong job if she takes her bad days out on customers/the public.) --- Tracy Hartley <mekn46 wrote: I've since exchanged a few more e-mails with her, and she apologised for her flippant reply and said she'd been having a bad day.
