I could call myself a virgin as I don't have sex !!! But I have kids !!! So I am obviously using the wrong word

Love it!!!!!!! I'll remember that one.

I can never think what to say when Meat eaters say it is a matter of 'choice'. It so angers me. It is speciesist to say that; it is only a choice if you have one, ie. are human with full faculties.

I watched that 'Living with the Enemy' episode with the vegan guy staying at that farm. the farmer said about 'choice', and JC said 'now come on now, we're not talking about what colour to paint the town hall, we're talking about animals being cruelly treated and abused' well something like that. I thought that was good to say. Anyone got any other suggestions?

All other omnivorous animals take from other animals so I think it's natural for us to do so. It's part of the food chain. I just hate it when animals aren't treated with respect. It makes me sick. But if it make other people happy then I won't call myself a vegan. I didn't anyway, it was other people that did. See you all soon. Love Genevieve. P.S. I'm gonna do some research into honey now. They always forget to give the victim the choice , Start to strangle the chicken and if it struggles to escape it is saying no !!! So give it the choice to LIVE

Its so easy really I don't know why these animal eaters are so thick

Plant killing doesn't bother me so much as they don't try to escape so therefore don't feel pain (no nervous system )

and according to people like Rick Ettar and John Jensen we also cause

the killing of more ANIMALS also, in their collateral damage argument;

e.g.

field mice/ground nesting birds in wheat fields,

frogs in machine cut rice fields, etc.

Confusing is it not ?

But more plants have to be grown /killed to feed all the herbivores that animal eaters eat . If we were all herbivores and the cow/pig/sheep part removed from the food chain then less plant material would be needed Pyramid of numbers

I think it is when they are feeling guilty and try to find something however small, to make us feel guilty. I suppose we could say "but we are doing our best, we are doing what we can to minimise animal exploitation." then ask "what do you do?" Usually the dark secrets stutter out of their nit picking statements!

Angie's victim's choice is one I will remember. A bit long though. Once 'choice' is mentionned I am usually swamped by an ambush of mutual applause, so that no responsive remarks get a chance and the speaker goes onto the next subject, leaving vegetarianism dealt with: its a matter of choice, unanamously agreed.

In Ricks case you are probably right for as Graham knows better than

me over at Google Groups he is a really ferocious debater.

Jon however seems a very conscientous vegan who does not wish his

vegan lifestyle to result in the death of rural wildlife and he his

trying to undertake some proper research into the levels of

collateral deaths.

I asked the Research Officer at Compassion in World Farming whether

it was an issue they had ever addressed but the answer was negative.

When I was a child ground nesting birds like lapwings were common and

snipe also nested locally but they are not heard/seen now although

new dock development is also to blame.

But that's just silly, because in fact meat eaters consume (directly +

indirectly) more plant food than vegans. After all what are the cows,

chickens etc fed on? and you get about 1 pound of beef for every 20 pounds

of grain that's fed to a cow.

But surely if we do not eat meat because we do not want to see

artificially farm animals killed we as a group should be very

concerned about the wildlife that is kiled as part of the food

production process. As I mentioned to Pandora this is an issue that

has never even reached the Compassion in World Farming intray.
