Guest guest
In two weeks time the first ever banned member will be allowed to return to this list under the amended rules and guidelines laid down after a recent altercation. The question I think should be put to the list membership is whether this should be an active or passive rule. Namely, should the person be informed (and in effect invited back to the list), or should they simply be removed from the banned member list and allowed to return when and if they desire? It has already been made clear that this is list policy, and so any banned member should be aware they would be allowed to return after two months. Please do not make this personal. This rule only applies to , which is a moderated environment, and not to VegansUncensored. Michael List Owner

Passive. Why run after people? I should think you have enough to do. Cathy
Guest guest
IMO the person should be informed They probably don't keep a diary of dates and maybe do not realise that they have served their time . . It would be an opportunity to remind them of their crime so they are in no doubt as to the unacceptable nature of what they did . Guest guest
If you ran a pub, and somebody got banned for unruly behaviour, would you then go round to their house and invite them back once you'd decided they weren't bsnned anymore, or would you simply wait for them to return of their own accord and then see how they got on this time? Guest guest
Personally I too favour the passive option, I don't see any sense in the active option but then the rules to decide how to deal with a banned member only came about because people who agreed with the banning then decided they were bored and complained about the way I was dealing with things. Always better to cover yourself. Besides this is a democratically run list and so anything related to the running of it will be open to debate, no matter how trivial or mundane. I have to put up with it, so I don't see why the rest of you should be let off. Michael
Guest guest
Yeah,i'd plumb for the 'passive' option too. There's a belief that people learn from their mistakes, and anyone who deliberately becomes a pain in the backside deserves immediate termination(suddenly becomes paranoid about own 'frequent childish ramblings'!).Most folk though would be remorseful(though not altering their original arguement)if they had upset someone! A strategy of living put forward by Angie was she has very little patience with non-veggies(meaning life is short and if they can't get their head around 'basic fundamentals'of ethics, then there are people who share her outlook in which relationships would be 'more productive). So if 'we' can't get on,then homo sapiens really is stuffed! Jak%)
Guest guest
This isn't a pub I would have thought that as vegans in a hostile world we would be closer than pub visitors quercusrobur2002 [grahamburnett] 15 September 2002 12:14 Subject: Re: Policy question [Mod]If you ran a pub, and somebody got banned for unruly behaviour, would you then go round to their house and invite them back once you'd decided they weren't bsnned anymore, or would you simply wait for them to return of their own accord and then see how they got on this time?Graham~~ info ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Please remember that the above is only the opinion of the author, there may be another side to the story you have not heard.---------------------------Was this message Off Topic? Information is more neutral. Anyway, this is trivial, and doesn't affect the substantive issue of someone not being banned any more. Personally, I really don't care. Telling them adds a touch of considerate formality, but really reading the calendar is the banned person's business. > Please do not make this personal. <div lang= " en/us " >( " She's back.
