Guest guest
No, it's the council or possibly solely the chief executive's fault, I'm not blaming Cathy, she doesn't have that much power. Guest guest
If you had the power to refuse subsidised childcare help altogether, I can guarantee that more meetings would be complete anarchy (sorry Graham, I suppose I mean disorder) because parents would come anyway and just bring noisy kids along, so what do you prefer, noisy meetings with kids running around or for the kids to be looked after elsewhere but quite nearby and for meetings to be allowed to run smoothly? I know you would probably choose for parents to not be allowed to participate as there is no childcare, you seem to think we have forfeited our equality by having children, but forget it, it aint going to happen because parents have an equal democratic right to get involved in the groups they belong to, and we will strive for that right (even with our poor tired eyes held open with matchsticks!). As members we have the right to be part of OUR organisation, it is as much for vegan parents and children as it is for childfree by choice vegans. Get the hell used to it! Guest guest
I don't need anger management, because it's called justifiable anger, would you have said such a thing to a slave or any other person who was denied their equal rights in society? Put the blame on the person who is being oppressed, to take the attention away from the oppressor's actions. An old trick and one that I am wise to. The anger management suggestion was, if you recall, in response to the " Get the hell used to it! " sentence. That sounds a lot like impotent rage to me. Very damaging, but you can get help. Guest guest
I'm feeling that this anger is OK actually, because I will use it to stand up for my rights. Some people in the Vegan Society who think like you obviously do have a lot of power, and they are now abusing that power to keep vegan parents as second class within the structure of the Vegan Society. Even my husband has been wondering if there is some anti-parent malice behind the no creche decision, considering all the evidence. Guest guest
Bo**ox to that, I am not the one in the wrong, Rick Savage won't even give a straight answer to a simple question, instead he dodges it with largely irrelevant facts, which says more about his character than I can ever say about him, so quit pathologising my attitude just because you don't like it. Ho-hum, some things never change around here do they? Guest guest
I hate Monday, I'll tell you why. Because usually it means I don't get to go online between Sunday lunchtime and Monday evening and so there's a lot of email to go through. And now all this - friendly warning, don't get personal. Constructive and helpful suggestions to other members are all well and good, but don't press them once made. That's the line and it's arbitrary. If you have a better line then tell me. You see there's something wrong with me, I trust people and treat them as intelligent people. I know, what can you do? Because of that I expect people to know how others will react to what they say, and so they take responsibility for what happens regardless of whether what they said was really that bad after all. This is the nicey nicey moderated list, and I will ensure it stays that way even if it means I have to get nasty (!) So think before writing because I'm going to act first.
