Oh I dunno... >The Royal Festival Hall presents 'The Crass Collective - Your Country Needs You - Voices and Music in Opposition to War'. Members of the notorious anarcho-punk outfit Crass share the same stage for the first time since they disbanded in 1984, in an evening of music, film and performance, curated by Penny Rimbaud and Gee Vaucher for the Crass Collective at the Queen Elizabeth Hall on Friday 8 November at 7.30pm. Your Country Needs You - Voices and Music in Opposition to War is the Crass Collective's call for peace in 2002. The evening includes some of Crass' best known anti-war songs, performed here by original members Eve Libertine and Steve Ignorant and rhythm guitarist Andy Palmer working with some of London's top jazz musicians. Other music on the bill includes punk rockers Gold Blade, with their particular brand of uncompromising protest, Kiss My Arse. Confrontational British-Asian rap collective Fun-Da-Mental complement New York rap artists The Original African Indians, who perform a drums and vocal version of Allen Ginsberg's poem Hum Bom!. The Songlines Choir present their rendition of Siegfried Sassoon's anti-war poem, Everyone Sang, while ex-Crass bassist Pete Wright's drum and vocal duo, and Dublin born jazz singer Christine Tobin and her own band, also make contributions. Just as Crass never confined themselves to music alone in their controversial efforts to spread their message, their reunion evening also includes poetry from Penny Rimbaud and Eve Libertine; a performance by Steve Ignorant taking on his alter-ego, Mr Punch; and contributions from acclaimed actors Nabil Shaban and John Sharian. Crass artist/film maker Gee Vaucher's edited version of her anti-war classic Yes Sir, I Will, is also screened and there is a film contribution from legendary Poison Girls vocalist, Vi Subversa.
