Hi,

I was wondering if someone can tell me when the vegan festival is on in

London.

Also, the Sainsburys iced desert issue..... If it's not Vegan, but it is

Vegetarian and Dairy free, someone's lying. It can't be vegetarian if it

has animal derivitives (body parts) in it.... so this only leaves eggs

and/or semi-vegetarian animal parts. Maybe sains. def. of vegetarian is

not so comprehensive.

Did the person from V uncensored say what was in it?

So I guess the veg. Parmisan cheese sprinkly stuff from tesco is not vegan?

The stuff that has soya flour and salt in it with 'flavourings' at then end.

The Vegan Festival is usually in September or sometimes August, so you've missed this year's. It was on 29th September.

How did you not know of it? It was well-publicised.

much like Lindt's small-print claims on it's Excellence Dark Choc packaging that it 'may' contain traces of milk ... and so is unfit for vegans...

simonpjones [simonpjones]One of the reasons Sainsburys' won't label their ice-cream Vegan, isbecause, if there a chance of cross-contamination,ie through using the samemachinery that makes dairy ice-cream, they can be ( righty so) sued.Simon

Not so. In addition to the point about contamination that Simon mentioned

(which is the most likely reason), I believe that not all dairy derived

proteins count as being dairy. Like the use of casein in dairy free

cheeses intended for the lactose intolerant.

>Did the person from V uncensored say what was in it?

That was Simon btw.

Flavourings could literally mean anything, if something looks vegan but has

'flavourings' then it is a judgment call as to whether it's suitable,

unless you know for sure. That Parmesan stuff (called Parmesano I think)

is vegan though.

Although the vegan society say it is vegan.

I think the problem with Lindt is that they are damaged by their own

honesty. I suspect in reality they are no different to any other company

which produces vegan products on the same machinery as non-vegan stuff

after it has been given a thorough scrubbing.

And their dark chocolate is vile. That doesn't help either.

Sainsbury ( Nottingham ) have dead chicken in the same upright freezer as the toffuti stuff . I didn't buy any and complained

If they are so unfeeling as to not realise that we don't want to see dead bodies when we are about to buy cruelty free ice-cream then I doubt they can be trusted anyway .

I think they do it deliberately so they have got an excuse for not stocking it --only just thought of this
