Guest guest
Hi vegans and veggies, I love the taste of cheese on pizzas and baked foods... Still, ordinary vegetarian cheese maybe derived from cows that are poorly treated, or fed with all kinds of strange feed. Now I've switched to organic cheese, free range / organic eggs where animals are better raised, with care towards the environment. I'd be nice to switch to vegan cheese too.... vegan cheese - doesn't matter if it doesn't have the same texture as normal cheese....but how come it tastes really 'strange'??? Are there any good brands of vegan cheese that tastes good? Thanks! K
Guest guest
Anything with the Tofutti brand name tends to taste good. The individual slices are excellent. I also like Scheese, esp. the Mozzarella variety, grated over baked beans, then sprinkled with some veggie Worcester sauce. Yum! Guest guest
> Are there any good brands of vegan cheese that tastes good? I like fromsoya cream cheese. I think that is what it is called. They do a really nice horseraddish one. Mmmmm. As for hard cheese, I am a cheezly girl myself, especailly nacho flavour. If you make it into toasties it melts really well. They also do a smokey flavour one with these bacony bits in which is quite nice too and also makes great toasties. I tend to add tomato to a toastie to make it more moister. Honestly, you really should try and give up dairy. As rowan has already said, it is so disgustingly bad. i became vegan in March this year and was surprised how easy it was with a bit of planning. I had thought about it for a while and one day I went round to a friends house, who is vegan, and she made me such lovely food that I have just never looked back. Thanks Sarah!! One time, after about 3 months of being vegan, i was in a cafe and i ordered a vegan desert with vegan cream on. i took a bite and within seconds realised they had put cow cream on instead. The feel of it on my tongue after going without for only a couple of months was so disgusting. All fatty and vile. I felt so sick. Now I think that the soya alternatives are better than the 'real thing'. swedish glace ice cream is delicious, soya dream, so good milk. You would never miss dairy. Anyway, take care. Guest guest
oh yes, that horseradish one is gorgeous in a sandwich with some tomatoes. Expensive though. Guest guest
Sure I love vegan alternative to dairy food for example, I do not drink any milk at all, but use soya substitute which tastes so so so much better than cows milk!! The only sad thing is, which is also irritating that the local shop which sales vegan cheese is gone and I can't get access to it anymore!!! >_< K , Zo?Bond <zoe_bond> <zoe_bond> wrote: > > > Are there any good brands of vegan cheese that tastes good? > > I like fromsoya cream cheese. Guest guest
free range only means an extra few centimetres in cage size... not a great difference for the chickens... the extra few centimetres and loss of associated profit is subsidised by the caring public through the extra few pennies it costs to buy 'free range eggs'... and companies who practise a minutely marginally chicken-friendly (sic) form of chicken farming get huge kudos for using a few meaningless words (with mere legal connotations) on their packaging... organic cheese ...? eggs? ... battery chickens fed organic food? cows who eat organic grass? ... i went to Stow-on-the-Wold this weekend ... there's an Organic Shop there... used to be the health food store... now organic ... on the outside in huge letters is the word MEAT... i wonder why they needed to do that... i was more concerned about what the egg really is ... rather than how it is farmed... i mean that stuff comes from the chicken's reproductive organs... just meditate on that and you own fluids and it should help you reconsider your relationship with the 'egg' ... Candice C <cyfis [cyfis] Now I've switched to organic cheese, free range / organic eggs where animals are better raised, with care towards the environment.
