Guest guest
Hello! I have read somewhere that all Champagne's are vegan ... is this true? I was given an expensive bottle of Dom Perignon worth about £80 and it would be such a shame to to be able to drink it. I have searched extensivly for any information but with no luck. Many Thanks! Guest guest
I heard that too - my friends said finings aren't used in champagne production. BUT if it is true, why do Sains etc say some of their own brand champs are vegan and some are not? Also there was a comp in the latest Vegan mag to win a bottle of Duvall-Leroy vegan champagne. They produce other champs too but just the one vegan one. To be sure, you'd have to contact DP themselves... good luck! Guest guest
Oliver Slay [oliver] > Apparently DP is vegan Hmmm... my rough rule-of-thumb with drink is that the really good stuff is often vegan, 'cos they allow time to do it's job, and the cheap stuff is vegan as they can't be bothered to wait for finings, so they just shove it through a filter... However, this is the first time I've seen any reference to champagne being vegan apart from specific organic champagnes (Jose Ardinat etc.). Personally I'd suspect that the distributors didn't know what they were on about and that DP & M & C aren't vegan... unless someone can come up with some other sources of that info.
