Guest guest
I'm going to start updating some sections of my 1994 Vegan cookbook 'Well Fed, Not An Animal dead' with a view to getting it reprinted in the none too distant future. In the book there is a section on vegans & alcohol, one sentence of which reads; " The vast majority (of alcohol producers) are members of the Brewers Society who are in turn affiliated to BIBRA, the government funded animal 'research' laboratory. In 1987, 3746 animals were used in alcohol related experiments. It is also pertinent to remember that many brewers are financial contributors to the Tory Party, whose government have done precious little for the plight of the plight of animals in this country " Can anyone out there provide me with; a) more up to date figures than those from 1987 b) Confirm whether it is still the case that the brewers society are still affilaited to BIBRA, and indeed whether BIBRA still carry out alohol related experiments. c) tell me if they think that paragraph is still broadly accurate, bearing in mind that the tories now seem to be a bunch of political has-beens- are similar donations now made by the brewers to the Tony party... er... I mean New Labour these days? Thanks for any help, Cheers for now Graham
