Several, I think - and also one or two Council members. It is perfectly

possible to be a local contact without dealing with the media - people

do as much or as little as they feel happy with. Some love to get their

faces on TV, others are happier just providing information and support

to other vegans in their area. All are welcome.

The training is quite informal and is at least partly to ensure that

people who are seen as officially representing the Vegan Society are

aware of the main aspects of Society policy and also what is and is not

within its remit as an educational charity.

There has actually been quite a bit of interest from people in your area

lately and there may even be a local group in process of formation.

Have you checked the local groups and local contacts pages in the latest

issue of The Vegan.

If you were thinking of applying to be a contact you have presumably

been a member for at least a year and will therefore be aware of the

Society's email discussion group, details of which were also given in

the most recent issue of The Vegan.

If you would like to know more about the Society's discussion group or

about becoming a local contact or joining a group in your area, do feel

free to email me off-list and I will try to help.

All good wishes,

Vanessa
