Thanks Oliver for the NFO on OJ , I only just saved it from drowning

amongst the pet threads! My the POMS are a nation of animal lovers (*humor*).

Though there is not a specific mention to the filtering process. Further

investigation me thinks.... But that's a good start, cheers mate.

Being Australian, I can confirm aussie is okay for vgn food. Except for

the far North(s), north WA, the Northern Territory etc. The more north one

goes, the more belief you'll find that bread doesn't rise without animal fat.

So Good is made by Sanitarium.... Started off a bit like Kellogs, but then

I think it didn't do an about-turn like Kellogs. Most of Sanitariums food

is pretty good for vgn. They also make breakie cerials, like Wheat-Bix

(not Wheat-a-bix).

Can anyone suggest relationships between dermatitis and food stuffs? I've

got it on my finger tips and itchy palms. Grrrrrr, I suspect soap... but

eff knows.

I read a funny letter in the guardian, someone saying vegetarianism isn't

sustainable as it's completely reliant on foreign imported foods. LOL. It

was in reply to the article written at Christmas about how everyone should

go vgn. They obviously haven't been to the MAF web site, quite clearly

states 90% of soy plants go to fodder. There are the ones who find

evidence to support their beliefs, and the ones who shape their beliefs to

the evidence. Need I say which one he was.

info on eczema/dermatitis:

BUPA which I don't agree with, but...

Suggests probably not food related.

Most of our food comes from an organic box scheme, but we do notice the

" hungry gap " a lot (the gap caused by the chunk of winter that's unfit for

sowing stuff). Trying to live purely on fresh UK grown veg. at the moment

would probably be (a) difficult and (b) very boring. However, the box scheme

also uses non-flown imports, so it's not as bad as it could be (plus there's

processed / frozen / dried foods...). Not sure I could cope without foreign

pulses.

For Christmas my sister bought us a Bio-Snacky bean sprouter, and it's great

:-) Three layers for sprouting beans / seeds and you just pour a pint of

water in the top, it rattles though to the bottom and you empty it out

again. Next step is to start getting the seeds to use with it from HDRA.
