Guest guest
<mild tangent alert> I thought that you can be aged 5 when you have your first alcoholic drink - in private. Then at 14, you may be served a low %vol alcoholic drink such as shandy in a pub. I think that 14 yr olds may have a glass of wine in a restaurant if they are eating a meal with their parents. I also think that licensing laws differ across the UK. Also, I thought that you could get married at 16 in this country (or is that just Scotland??) but you probably needed parental consent. If the Age of Consent is raised to 18, that means those newly-weds would have a frustrating first two years!! :-O Poor things! Finally, wasn't there a huge uproar in this country when Jerry Lee Lewis visited with his wife. He said she was 16 but actually she was only 14 and his cousin. Back in the 50s/60s. All long before my time. <\mild tangent alert> Siofra (sitting back now, just waiting for someone to put me right on this stuff!! :-) ) , " Lesley Dove " <Lesley@v...> wrote: > > Many of the US states have the age of consent set at 18, so it's not like > that is an unusual view.
