Guest guest
Copy of a notice about a new nutrition book that dispels all the silly myths about vegan eating. Nothing based on animal experiments and all profits to the vegan cause. Available at the national vegan festival or see www.vegansociety.com/shop Hope to see lots and lots of you at the festival in London on Sunday. Vanessa -- All you ever wanted to know about homocysteine, omega-3 fatty acids, calcium, iron, zinc and just about every other veggie topic you can think of, and a few you may not even have heard of yet! The long awaited comprehensive study of Plant Based Nutrition and Health by Stephen Walsh [science Coordinator of the International Vegetarian Union and Chair of the UK Vegansoc] is now available in both paperback [£7.95, but there's a special offer in The Vegan magazine] and hardback [£12.95]. Copies will be available at the festival on Sunday, where the author will be giving a short talk around 4.15 pm. NATIONAL VEGAN FESTIVAL Sunday 14th September from 10 till 5 Conway Hall, Red Lion Square, London [nearest tube station Holborn] admission just £1 The book is not aimed exclusively at vegans, but at anyone wishing to improve their health by moving to a more plant based diet or to challenge the nonsense put around by journalists and others. Reactions from scientists and academics both here and on the continent and in the US have been very positive indeed and some have already said that they will use the book for talks and for university teaching. This doesn't mean it's too complicated for us ordinary mortals - there are three levels to each topic: a short summary of how to put the recommendations into practice, a longer explanation of the reasons for the recommendations, and finally a great mass of scientific references at the back of the book to set your PhD students on! Everything recommended can be easily obtained in ordinary shops. So you'll be equipped not just with the most up to date scientific information to choose the healthiest diet, but with all the arguments needed to deal with the myths still being put around about vegetarianism by those with a vested interest in the products of animal exploitation. By the way, all the recommendations are based on human studies, often of many thousands of people - and NONE on animal experiments.
