Guest guest
=== Questions about you === 1/ What is your name (or what do you like to be called)? Rebecca 2/ How old are you (a rough idea will do)? 19 3/ Do you know many vegans in real life? None 4/ How long have you been a vegan, and how long vegetarian before that? Vegan: about 3 days Vegetarian: about two months ago 5/ Why did you become vegetarian/vegan (if you are neither it would be useful to explain why you joined this list)? I stopped eating poultry a few years ago. I then stopped eating all meat, as I didn't really like the taste of it. I became a vegan after going on the Vegan Society website and reading about how animals are wrongfully treated for their. I didn't realise just how bad they are treated. I didn't even know about how bad it is for us to eat meat and dairy products, and I didn't know how much it affected the environment, or our health for that matter. === Questions about your area === 6/ Whereabouts do you live? On the Wirral. I go to University in Liverpool 7/ How good a place is it for vegans? I went to Somerfields near me (on the Wirral), which has just opened, and I was a bit surprised that it did sell soya milk and also bread that is suitable for vegans. I'm not sure if there are any restaurants (on the Wirral or in Liverpool) that I could go to though which would be vegan-friendly. === Questions for fun === 8/ Which is your favourite type of bean? I don't really have a favourite type of bean. I like them all. 9/ What is your favourite country, or region, to visit? I don't really know. I'm too busy with Uni to visit anywhere. I go to Lourdes in the south of France in the summer time. 10/ What types of film do you like? Horror 11/ What was the last meal you ate? Houmous and salad sandwich on wholemeal bread, and an apple 12/ Are you a morning, evening or night person? Evening person === Questions for dull administrative purposes === 13/ How did you find out about this list? I was seeing if there were any groups on especially for vegans === Other comments === 14/ If there is anything else you want to add to the above please feel free to do so. I don't think so. I remember crying eating braising steak, they never made me eat that again. > > 5/ Why did you become vegetarian/vegan (if you are neither it would be useful > to explain why you joined this list)? I became veggie because animals are my life, i later became vegan due to need ing to do a little bit more to help myself feel better. i suppose you could say thats selfish but i still feel bad. I just dont know what to do though anymore. I feel that now i have to go one further than veganism > === Questions about your area === > > 6/ Whereabouts do you live? > Coventry in warwickshire > > 7/ How good a place is it for vegans? > It sucks, we used to have a beautiful little coffeeshop that did vegan food and tea with soya milk but it went out of buisiness many years ago. > > === Questions for fun === > > 8/ Which is your favourite type of bean? > > baked ofcourse!!! > > 9/ What is your favourite country, or region, to visit? > > I have only ever been away once and that was may just gone with my last girlfriend and we went to Prague, which was awesome and suprisingly there was a fair bit for vegans there. > > 10/ What types of film do you like? > > all sorts, mainly chick flicks (pardon the terminology ladies), im a very emotional person. my fav film of all time has to be a throw up though between jacobs ladder and naked. two very dark films. > > 11/ What was the last meal you ate? > > chips with char grilled vegetables > > 12/ Are you a morning, evening or night person? > > all of tem. i try not to sleep too much but i have been known to have a fair few ly-ins.. i stay up late. > > === Questions for dull administrative purposes === > > 13/ How did you find out about this list? > > i was just looking for vegan stuff within the uk. im trying to find something proactive to do. Guest guest
Wow lots of new members since I was last online! Welcome one and all. And Jenny, if you live in Plymouth I believe there's quite an active animal rights group there if you're interested. Animal Concern Today (ACT), Plymouth Hunt Sabs, South Devon Animal Rights, etc (there's lots!). I could put you in touch if you're interested. Or if anyone's interested there's the SARC website, www.sarconline.co.uk, which is a networking group that has details of local veg/AR groups.
