Guest guest
I thought it was gross too. Tried it a couple of years ago as a friend had a dairy intolerance. But she used to have gross UHT longlife type stuff. I was worried when i decided to be vegan because i thought i was going to hate the milk but was pleasantly suprised. I love a glass of chilled fresh soya milk. Chocolate soya milk is even better!!! Guest guest
If you let the coffee cool down a little first...it should not curdle at all. regards Simon - " laurakatemoore " <laurakatemoore Tuesday, October 14, 2003 5:33 PM Re: soya milk, was Why did you become a vegan? > Lol. Guest guest
I've tried using it in tea and found it tasting like mud - " simon " <simonpjones Tuesday, October 14, 2003 7:51 PM Re: Re: soya milk, was Why did you become a vegan? > If you let the coffee cool down a little first...it should not curdle at > all. > > regards > > Simon > - > " laurakatemoore " <laurakatemoore > > Tuesday, October 14, 2003 5:33 PM > Re: soya milk, was Why did you become a vegan? > > > > Lol. Guest guest
That might depend on what soya milk you are using. It can't be worse than cows milk or rats milk.. - " Don Moore " <don Tuesday, October 14, 2003 7:58 PM Re: Re: soya milk, was Why did you become a vegan? > I've tried using it in tea and found it tasting like mud > - > " simon " <simonpjones > > Tuesday, October 14, 2003 7:51 PM > Re: Re: soya milk, was Why did you become a vegan? > > > > If you let the coffee cool down a little first...it should not curdle at > > all. > > > > regards > > > > Simon > > - > > " laurakatemoore " <laurakatemoore > > > > Tuesday, October 14, 2003 5:33 PM > > Re: soya milk, was Why did you become a vegan? > > > > > > > Lol. Buy it from Cafe Nero - they charge 30p extra for soya milk but it means I can have a vegan Capuccino from time to time. No curdles. They also charge 30p extra for skimmed cow milk instead of semi- skimmed cow milk (or is it the other way round) which is fair enough because they do seem to clean the machine and use different utensils. They don't mention human milk. Siofra
Guest guest
It is difficult! I tend to put the milk in first and gradually add the hot water (so the temperature change isn't too sudden) and stir like mad. Doesn't work *every* time, but better than nothing. Has the added advantage of building up the stirring muscles and excercising the concentrated frown!! Instant coffee tends to be acidic so the soy milk goes funny. If you get a nice *medium* *roast* filter coffee (Fair Trade, organic, bird friendly of course !) then you'll find that you never have a problem adding soy milk to coffee. (It also helps that filter coffee is not usually as hot as freshly made instant coffee, which is near boiling before you add milk.)
