Guest guest
Hi Laura, firstly thought I'd better mention that my name's Jak not Zak ; - ) >I've just left wales! I lived in Cardiff and worked at Whitchurch Hospital. I left Cardiff >and the Hospital to start a teacher training course and be closer to me family. Sorry to >disappoint but i'm not Welsh - i only lived there for a year! Fab place! I love it here, beautiful countryside. There's (obviously) beautiful countryside in england, but here it's so much more wild, and there's lots more of it between towns and villages. I come from England as well, have only lived here two years. I live in mid-wales next to a forest. >I'm in Bedford now? Anyone out there live near me? And i should say i've never met >another vegan in real life! oh dear, it's sad isn't it? Not to have that connection. Maybe you can change that and get to know local vegans. Try putting an ad up in your local healthfood shop. Oh and btw, quite a lot of my family live in Luton, but unforunately none of them are vegan! >One organisation suggests putting fliers in with your bills when you pay them. I quite like >the idea of leaving leaflets around the place. Definately good to do! Also, just get talking to people you know/meet who show a genuine interest in your choice of lifestyle. Explain why you're doing what you do. It's amazing just what impact this can have on someone's life. (I've found this out recently with a woman I've been getting to know. She ended up asking me to write down product names and recipes : - ) >I really do think this group could be useful. Not knowing anyone into animal rights, >human rights and even only knowing a handful of veggies, it would be so useful to share >in an environment where we know what we are discussing. On oter lists there seemed >so much discussion on US health food stores and US events! Exactly! It's gotta be good! ; - ) Jak
Guest guest
Apologies Jak, for some reason Zak stuck in my head and i didn't think to check. I'd love to live near a forest! I just heard about a couple who rent their loft apartm, ent in a forest in mid wales. Sounds great! > oh dear, it's sad isn't it? Not to have that connection. Maybe you >can change that and get to know local vegans. Try putting an ad up >in your local healthfood shop. Good idea. I can't wait til this years out of the way. Feel like the net is my only social life at present! > Definately good to do! Also, just get talking to people you >know/meet who show a genuine interest in your choice of lifestyle. > Explain why you're doing what you do. I've found that people on my course are absolutely fascinated! I keep drip feeding them little snippets of information, and while i know they won't go vegan, or even veggie, overnight, it is having some effect. It might take months or years but being exposed to veganism is having an impact on them. I managed to put everyone off marshmellows during one seminar. hehe. Good for you getting your friend interested. Laura x
