Guest guest
Hello all Feel I should talk again as I have been a non-contributing member for a while now! The threat of closure made me sit-up and take more notice. I think it would be a shame to close this down. We were asked to remind the group why we became vegans... To be honest I can't remember properly. It seems to be something I've done for so long, that being vegan is now a part of me and my identity, like being left-handed or having blue eyes, rather than just an aspect of my lifestyle. I have lived with the label 'Cath the vegan' from people around me for so long. It has been so long since I have thought about the specific reasons for being vegan, that my initial answer was simply 'because it's the right thing to do'. I suppose my decision covered all the usual reasons: animal welfare, health, environment. I have just been to the vegan society website to read the Why Go Vegan? page, not because I am having doubts, just to help me get further than 'because'. It is good, I might print it out to help me next time someone in 'real life' asks me. I don't mean to give the impression that I am some goody two shoes, or that I always know I am right and never need to think about any of my views. I know for example that I am useless when it comes to answering people's questions in 'real life'. On an unrelated point, just had a disaster haircut, and am growing it out already! Please does anybody know of any good vits/mins for (asap) hair growth, and good sources?! Also, anybody know of any leave-in conditioners that are non animal tested? I've found that, even after a good rinsing, it is like a leave-in conditioner. I like it. Also, Lush (http://www.lush.co.uk) do a deep conditioner - " Arabian Bright " . Hope that helps Siofra

Guest guest
Hi Cath, thanks for talking about why you are vegan. I feel the same. Although i haven't been a vegan for very long it just feels a part of who i am. I'm known as Laura the Vegan too. Bad luck about the haircut. How about zinc? Think thats good for hair. Not sure about a good source though, apart from nuts and seeds i think. Hope it grows back soon! Guest guest
I'd say it probably the best thing anyone can do to stop animal abuse, wars etc. (If you sound like a saddo then I wouldn't like to say what I sound like).
