Guest guest
=== Questions about you === 1/ What is your name (or what do you like to be called)? Elisabeth 2/ How old are you (a rough idea will do)? 32 3/ Do you know many vegans in real life? I don't think I know any personally. I've met a couple of raw fooders, (also vegan), but I wouldn't say I *knew* them. 4/ How long have you been a vegan, and how long vegetarian before that? Almost 3 years and I was practically vegan for 6 or 7 years before that and vegetarian going back another 3 or 4 years. 5/ Why did you become vegetarian/vegan (if you are neither it would be useful to explain why you joined this list)? Almost every reason there is except karma and religious reasons. Now it's mostly a matter of human and ecological health, although I DO care about animal welfare issues too. === Questions about your area === 6/ Whereabouts do you live? Leeds, northern England 7/ How good a place is it for vegans? Pretty good, I think. We have a few good wholefood stores, plenty of decent supermarkets and I don't think I know any restaurant where you can't at least request vegan food. Having said that, places are often OK for vegans once you know where to get stuff, right?=) === Questions for fun === 8/ Which is your favourite type of bean? Actually, I'm not too keen on them, but I use red kidneys and chick peas most. 9/ What is your favourite country, or region, to visit? I'd LOVE to visit Italy, lived in Taiwan for a year (1997/8) and love it here in Yorkshire, but as I'm married to a German, a lot of our trips are to Germany. 10/ What types of film do you like? Anything clean and light-hearted. 11/ What was the last meal you ate? Remains of a takeaway and salad! My tum's not too happy at the mo, so I've just had a mug of peppermint tea instead of dinner. Bloomin' hungry though...=( 12/ Are you a morning, evening or night person? I'm permanently dazed!!!! Seriously, it totally depends on how much sleep I've had, how much I've been doing and how I'm feeling healthwise, (I have mild- mnoderate ME and am getting better, despite claims that I would be practically killing myself by not eating animal foods!!!) === Questions for dull administrative purposes === 13/ How did you find out about this list? I was on it a while back when the split occurred. Remembered it from there. I'm back 'cos I too would like somewhere to talk about UK related things, esp. product recommendations and so forth. === Other comments === 14/ If there is anything else you want to add to the above please feel free to do so. Not really, but please feel free to ask anything if you want to know it!! I'm on 'no mail' for almost all my newsgroup memberships so I may not see things too quickly. I'm also not too likely to get involved in much debate. My main interests at the mo are health and nutrition. Nice to 'meet' you all! Hugs, Elisabeth=)
Guest guest
Hi elisabeth, welcome back. Its interesting what oyur doctors said about m.e. I've been kinda diagnosed with CFS. I say kind of because i haven't seen a specialist yet and will be interested to see what they say about me being a vegan too. I have felt lots better since going veggie and even better since going vegan. I also got allergy tested and cut other things out for a while but then i felt worse, so now i'm just careful not too eat too much of things i shouldn't. Meant to ask everyone, what are your favourite foods? I'm lacking in inspiration at the moment and all my cookbooks just seem to be full of really fancy things! Anyone got a favourite meal? My specialities are mushroom risotto, chilli and a creamy curry. Laura x
