Hi everyone,

As a self confessed lurker but also a member I just wanted to add a few things to what Jak has said.

I find some of the lists such as VU and BlueVegans to have a sizeable dietary member base so once in a while these "vegans" go on about honey, eggs and cheese as a sort of treat once in a while which I find bizarre because it's not vegan but that's dietary vegans for you.

As an ethical or AR vegan I would entirely welcome, even as a way to redress the balance, to hear of AR topics on this list - as well as other topics.

I think Jak has made a fair point.

Best wishes,

Hi Wendy -

I agree up to a point - I don't mind a little AR or animal welfare

discussion on a vegan list, since there is considerable overlap with

genuine (as opposed to dietary) veganism.

The things that annoy me though, and which IMNVHO tend to spoil a list are:

* indiscriminate cross-posting of AR stuff from AR lists onto vegan

lists - people who want to know about AR demos, marches, etc, will

already be hearing about them on the AR lists. None of us wants to

read the same stuff over and over again on multiple lists - it starts

to look a lot like spam.

* preaching to the choir - there's a certain kind of AR type who

feels the need to lecture and chide anyone and everyone about how

they should be out on demos, marches, etc, even on vegan lists. This

gets old fast.

Just my 2p = 3c.

Paul

I have never seen any such thing on Vegans Uncensored or on here, and

would not expect such a view to be well received either.

Graham does admit to eating honey but he has very specific and reasoned

arguments to back that up, and is hardly a dietary vegan.

I know I said I wasn't going to post any more, but you've coxed me out

as I can sense this might actually be resolved to everyone's benefit.

Let's be clear, there were never any unspoken rules. If you are not

going to do what you originally stated (and which I quoted in my final

reply on the subject) then talking about AR is fine. My protests (and

I'm sure those of everyone else) were purely based on what you

originally suggested you wanted to do.

Nothing you have subsequently suggested you wanted to do has been a

problem though so if you are retracting that original suggestion then I

do not see there being any problem with AR discussion topics being

raised. It is simply a difference between activism and discussion.

Personally, I do not see the harm in the odd AR message appearing on this site.

After all, as long as it is in the subject title, it can always be deleted

without being read. So where is the harm?
