Guest guest
Hello Laura! Thanks for the welcome, I appreciate it!=) It wasn't my doc who talked about veganism. The specialist mentioned nothing to do with diet really and the local Chronic Fatigue Service give no info on diet further than eating little and often to keep energy levels fairly constant. That's understandable that they don't go too deeply into it as many of them are Occupational Therapists and not dieticians. Also, as many of us are painfully aware, most docs know little or nothing about diet and health either - they certainly don't study it during their medical courses. Sigh! The place I was slammed for veganism was on a group here at called CFSCured. There are some real Atkins-diet-types there who are plugging a 40% protein monstrosity and one of them even said to me that he knew " PhDs who refused to treat vegetarians and other death wishers " etc! I was very controlled and didn't enquire as to whether their PhDs were in narrow-minded stupidity!!!=) Anyway, the whole atmosphere there was so hostile when it claimed to be supportive that I un-subbed very soon afterwards and will re-join when I'm totally better and tell them how I did it - ie without animal foods and with a high percentage of raw foods in my diet. If it's not too OT a subject, (some might think so and I'm not out to rattle anyone!!!), what's your experience with CFS been thus far? I was interested that you're able to carry on with your studies and training etc. Perhaps we might talk about our experiences etc off list? Please feel free to mail me personally and I'll share all the hepful tips I can think of with you! By far the most vital though is a solid belief that recovery IS possible and it happens all the time. Where do you live, by the way? You may be able to attend one of the pitifully few CFS clinics which are *immensely* good at getting people back on their feet and on the rapid road to recovery. Wishing you health and blessings, Elisabeth=)
