Guest guest
Hi there! Has anyone here ever done any certified nutrition courses? I've been looking at the Royal Institute for Public Health's certificate and diploma in health and nutrition. It does have some material on vegetarian diets. The thing that annoys me about almost all 'mainstream' nutrition info when it touches on plant-based diets is the obvious assumption that humans were *meant* to eat animal foods! They're always on about 'replacing' things so as not to miss out on nutrients and how these diets 'can' be healthy as long as they're 'well-planned'. It's almost as if they're insinuating that 'onvivorous' diets are automatically healthy without planning or forethought! Yes, it's true that a well-planned diet that contains some animal foods can be considerably better than a poorly planned veggie one, esp lacto-ovo, but a well-planned vegan diet with lots of raw food surpasses the lot! Just thought I'd stand on my soap-box for 5 minutes!!! Hugs, Elisabeth=)
Guest guest
The author of Cooking Without - Barbara Cousins ... went to a very good school of nutrition ... can't remember which one .. but it covered many different diets ... i can't find the name of it ... I went to a nutritionist who was perfectly accepting of my diet and he also went to the same school of nutrition as Barbara Cousins... Royal Institute? ... and Public Health ? ... and nutrition ... it's bound to be meat based... i've been looking at a distance-learning Nutrition Course from www.alternative-training.com ... they do anatomy/physiology and disease/pathology and nutrition courses for alternative practitioners... many courses for alternative medicine that i have been looking at ask that the anatomy course is done from this company ... they also run a distance learning homeopathy course... courses can either be with or without a tutor ... the nutrition course has a unit on alternative diets ... but i do not know how those diets are covered....
