WTF?? If I understand you correctly then you seem to think that feminist theology corrupts the bible! Well, no wonder you find your veganism incompatible with your Christianity... It makes me wonder why you have dismissed Andrew Linzey (who was, I think, a Professor of Theology at Oxford) and also the " jesus was vegan " folks WITHOUT even reading them. > Really, the Bible has no animal rights statement at all beyond > Proverbs 12:10 - " The righteous one is caring for the soul of his > domestic animal, but the mercies of the wicked ones are cruel " . Looking up " animal " in a concordance and checking out all the verses it lists only gives the BEGINNING of what the bible may say on animal rights. The bible isn't like a " Haynes Car Manual for Life " unless you are a Literalist. Taking a Literal Interpretation perhaps isn't the best way to deal with a historical document...? > True indeed! So how do you explain what Paul (writer of various books in the bible) says about this??? > Long-term Bible student Really?? You are?? I seem to have taken a rather negative impression of your biblical studies. I look forward to being proven wrong! Siofra

What I meant by my, probably badly worded, comment was more like misinterpreted or mis-applied it. It depends what one means by feminism as to whether or not the scriptures can justly support it, but many of the things that are put forward as feminist would be in direct contradiction to Biblical principles. Whilst it by NO means says that men are superior, better or more important, it does say that they have certain roles and so on that women do not. Vice versa is also true. > It makes me wonder why you have dismissed Andrew Linzey (who was, I > think, a Professor of Theology at Oxford) and also the " jesus was > vegan " folks WITHOUT even reading them. I have read some of them. Not the books themselves, but comments of people who have read them etc and I still have to say that the scriptures absolutely do not support this view. > > True indeed! I can't answer you unless I know what you are talking about.=) Anyway, I'll just make one thing clear - veganism and the Bible are no more incompatible than air travel and the Bible are. It just doesn't go into them! Each must make his own, informed decision, (which most people don't when it comes to diet as they are only informed by corrupt marketing practices regardless of what faith they profess), and not try to make sources that really have no comment on the subject try to support their decisions. Peace and genuine respect, Elisabeth=)
