Guest guest
Is ther a way to get rid of ants withou killing them. Our home is being invaded. I googled and got vinegar but I guess our ants must like vinegar! I'm very live and let live but it's wearing thin. Ellie
Guest guest
Essential oil of peppermint has always helped keep them at bay, in my experience. We're having the same problem, but peppermint deters them. k@ --- Ellie Mayson <ellie2002 wrote: > Is ther a way to get rid of ants withou killing > them. Our home is > being invaded. Guest guest
Thanks I'll try that - smells nicer than vinegar too! This works reasonably well, but only for a limited time. In the past I've gone to great lengths to try and deter ants without killing them, but if it gets really bad you may not have much choice, sadly. Guest guest
I'll have to check out whether that's available in the UK, unfortunately it can be really abd. If it was just me and my partner I wouldn't care but they are coming straight into the lounge where the babies play and getting in all their stuff. Thanks, Ellie > Mix up some Dr Bronner's liquid peppermint soap with some warm water in > a spray bottle and then spray the areas where the ants are coming in. > This works reasonably well, but only for a limited time. I never had bad ant problems in the UK but here in CA it gets really bad at times, especially in the rainy season (the rain drives them up out of their nests in the ground into the house in search of food). At one point in my last house they were getting into the freezer - I had to vacuum hundreds of freeze-dried ants out of the freezer every day. It's a hard decision to make, but if it gets too bad and you can't keep them at bay with peppermint, chilli powder, coffee grounds or other natural repellent then you may have to start killing them. I hate to do this though. Oh, one other thing I just remembered - I had some success for a while with a small battery powered vacuum cleaner (a " dust buster " ) - you can vacuum up the ants and deposit them outside and they seem to be none the worse for the experience. You have to have a lot of patience and a lot of time on your hands to do this though (several times a day). Paul
Guest guest
Pretty sure that you can get Dr Bronner's stuff over here. Whereabouts do you live? I'm sure that you could order it online if you google Dr Bronner's UK, but it should be at any larger hfs. Cheers, k@Ellie Mayson <ellie2002 wrote: I'll have to check out whether that's available in the UK, unfortunately it can be really abd. Guest guest
Ellie, it's available online here: http://www.21stcenturyhealth.co.uk/productlist.asp?category=Body+Care If you don't like to shop over the internet, you could always just ask them where your nearest stockist is. k@Ellie Mayson <ellie2002 wrote: Nr Wakefield, West Yorks.
