If you like spending time on the internet, I suggest http://www.veggieboards.com

- it's messageboards, very busy and full of information and good for support,

but it is rather US-centric. I've heard the tattoo ink question there, and these

links were posted:

I'm sure most of it won't be new to you, but it might be helpful.

There is also a forum run by vegans here: http://forum.govegan.net/ which has a

tattoo section.

You can get vegan washing up liquid easily enough - Ecover or Co-op own-brand,

amongst others.

Hope that helps!

<DIV>Hi Lesley!</DIV>

<DIV> Just thought I'd say thanks for emailing. I had absolutely no idea about

the vegan group that's based in Ramsgate, I've just not been made very aware of

these things. You can't find any vegan publications in Ramsgate, any

advertisements or such like, I just don't have the time to look these things

up.</DIV>

<DIV> Another thing I've been trying to find out that I was wondering if you

could maybe help me with; are tattooing inks/pigments vegan friendly and if so,

which ones? It sounds easy enough to find out but it's seemingly impossible. I'm

an apprentice tattoo artist and am quite heavily tattooed myself and I've tried

phoning and emailing suppliers for a list of ingredients but, as is the case

with most tattoo suppliers and other artists, they're very tight with their

information. The suppliers seem to think a 19 year old apprentice will be able

to take a list of ingredients and start making her own batches!!! Alot of

pigments are suspended in glycerol/glycerine to thicken the pigment and give it

a more paste like texture. I've only found out that a company called

<STRONG><EM>Intenze Colours</EM></STRONG> uses this technique, so they're out of

the question. Unfortunately, I am going to have to make some sacrifices due to

the nature of my work but I have been told that

if I

can find vegan alternatives to products that may not be suitable e.g. Vaseline/

Petroleum Jelly, Isopropyl Alcohol, Washing Up Liquid, and pay for them myself

then that's fine. Now I just have to find them. </DIV>
