Guest guest
Linda Taal [Linda.Taal] Wednesday, January 26, 2005 5:18 PM To: " Undisclosed-Recipient:; " @mrelay2.st2.lyceu.net Fw: Again Turkey for your information spread widely under politicians holland and eu and animalwellfare organisations in holland and international L.S., During the past couple of months, we have regularly forwarded you cries for help, coming from Turkey. And the situation only seems to get worse. The (stray) dogs are being poisoned, raped, abused and neglected on a massive scale. The animal protection law that was adopted July 3rd 2004, is simply being ignored by the (local) authorities and civilians. The reactions we received upon these cries for help, range from " We have no authority to act " till " We have our hands full with our own problems " . But so far, no one has reacted in a constructive manner. How is it possible that the Dutch and the European politicians, the Dutch and the international animal protection organisations are letting this happen without even letting the Turkish government know they disapprove strongly. Even when one has no authority to act or when one has his hands full with their own problems, there is always the possibility to at least let your voices hear to the Turkish government! Below are pictures and the matching text as we received today. Please, again we urge you strongly to make your disapproval known to the Turkish government. These first pictures are made in the Sivas shelter. The dogs in the Sivas shelter are, as is the case in most others Turkish shelters, severely neglected. These images were made recently. Regularly, villains access the shelter at night due to inferior fencing and once inside the shelter, they rape, abuse and kill the animals. Leaving empty booze bottles all over the place. The local authorities are aware of this happening but they do not act in anyway. The following pictures come from a shelter in the Bahcesehir district in Istanbul. We have reported numerous times about the seriousness of the situation in this shelter. If you wish, you can read it all again on our website at http://www.actiezwerfhonden.nl/Eng/Actueel/Laatstenieuwsindex.htm and you can find more pictures on http://gif.actiezwerfhonden.nl Furthermore we justreceived an e- mail saying the manager of the municipal shelter in Izmir does not allow the dogs being spayed or neutered; male and female dogs live together in one partition. http://www.geocities.com/izmirdogs. We kindlly request you to forward copys of your protests to the Turkish Governement to us. We will forward your letters to the Turkish animalwellfare volunteers to encourage them to go on with their work.
