Guest guest
Slaughterhouse - The Task of Blood Mon 4 Jul, 9:30 pm - 10:30 pm 60mins The vast majority of people in Britain eat meat, which means that thousands of animals are slaughtered every day in British abattoirs. This film is about a small, family-run abattoir in Oldham, Greater Manchester. In graphic detail the film shows the process of meat production. The animals arrive healthy and whole and are then killed, skinned, eviscerated, butchered and stored in fridges before being transported to retail outlets. The film is also about the men with the sharp knives, the killers and cutters. Very strong language and disturbing scenes. Essence_UK says: Be interesting to see just how honest it is and if the makers had any biases in what they wanted to portray. I have a feeling it will be a " It's a grizzly job but somebody has to do it for us and these noble men do " type piece, we'll see. More typical an animal-related television broadcast at BBC2 7pm Monday to Friday is " The Elephant Diaries " as part of the BBC Africa season.
